Holy Crap

Recommended Posts

I got this as a Father's Day gift from a relative. Despite the fact that Oprah selected it for her book club (which usually gets a knee-jerk :dunno: from me), I gave it a shot.

Ten pages in, and I was completely hooked. If you can get past the fact that you need a thesaurus for at least a word per page, it is a fantastic read and truly frightening.

The book is called "The Road", and the author is Cormac McCarthy.

Reviews seemed to be mixed. I love end of the world stories so I'll check it out :dunno: Thanks

I'm trying to make the time to break it open... mmm read the entire thing in one day. Gave it a :D

I was actually motivated to read it due to the interview Orcah did with the author just recently.

So you can look up synonyms and antonyms while you read?

Including the word "dictionary" in a dictionary is just a way for the shadow government to mess with our minds.

A thesaurus would serve the same purpose. Don't listen to hoytddoucheass. You should be recognized for having an idea what a thesaurus is on this bored.

McCarthy is truly the master of bleakness. Try any of his books and see if you can carry on that day.

I haven't read this latest, but someday, when i'm feeling all good and fuzzy, i'll need another shot of Dr. Doom to balance me out.

this is the 1st book of his that I've read, and I read a few reviews of it as well. It has been suggested that this is the first book he's done that mixes the usual bleakness with hope, and I would agree with that. It somehow varies between harrowing and uplifting throughout the book.

In paperback, I think it's a little under 300 pages.

Thanks. I will check this out.

Longer than a picture book, sorry.

Don't be sorry. I did go to public schools. Despite that huge disadvantage, I know how to read.
