375 games started. 206 Wins. 2.81 ERA. 1.026 WHIP. 2998 Strike Outs. 3 Cy Youngs. Robbed of an MVP.

I know a lot of people hate him for a number of reasons, but to me he should be in the hall of fame.

Not first ballot material.

Are you one of those people that think 1st ballot means a focking thing?

Either you're in the hall of fame or you're not. When you got voted in is meaningless.

I do know that it gets harder if you are not the first ballot. Therefore it does mean something.

Definitely.

Extra points for dodging a charging Zimmer and waching him fall on his ginormous belly

Why do some voters say "I'll vote for him, but not the 1st year"

When deciding on whether someone should be in the HOF, I like to look at their individual seasons. If they have 6-8 HOF type season, I would put em in. Pedro has 7.

1997: 17-8, 1.90 ERA, 241 IP, 158 hits, 305 SO.

1998: 19-7, 2.89 ERA, 233 IP, 188 hits, 251 SO.

1999: 23-4, 2.07 ERA, 213 IP, 160 hits, 313 SO.

2000: 18-6, 1.74 ERA, 217 IP, 128 hits, 284 SO.

2002: 20-4, 2.26 ERA, 199 IP, 144 hits, 239 SO.

2003: 14-4, 2.22 ERA, 186 IP, 147 hits, 206 SO.

2005: 15-8, 2.82 ERA, 217 IP, 159 hits, 208 SO.

3 Cy Young awards and 3,000 Ks. He is first ballot HOF, IMO. How the Red Sox ever let him go, I'll never understand.

If you look at Theo's track record, he doesn't resign players that he can't claim are his own. The only two I can think of is Wakefield and Varitek (2 no brainers)

Pedro - Let him walk

Lowe - Let him walk (signed Clement)

Damon - Let him walk (traded for Crisp)

Nomar - Traded him (trade for Cabrera and then signed Rentawreck and then traded him)

Nixon - Let him walk (signed Drew)

Doug Mirabelli - Let him walk (the traded for him back 2 weeks into the season and gave up Josh Bard and Clay Meredith)

Bronson Arroyo - Traded him for Willy Slow Pena

I could go on and on.

Let us not forget Theo's little take my ball and go home stunt when he quit being the GM only to come back a few months later.

They let him go because he was on the wrong side of 30 and they were concerned about his arm (which were validatored) and because he wanted too much money.

Not again, ed!

:D

This is not reason for any of the moves you highlighted

You act as if the Red Sox didn't try and sign Pedro when the Mets did. focking laughable. How do you explain that Theo lover? were they trying to drive the price up? I thought you were a Red Sox fan? do you remember nothing? The Red sox offered him 3 years, the Mets offered him 4. Pedro hasn't pitched at all this year which would have been his 3rd with the Sox.

Theo ain't so smart now, is he?

Not again, ed!

Why do you insist on quoting me but leaving out the most important part? Oh I know. TO make your argument look better :D

Of course they tried to re-sign him! The Sox also offered him a 4th year, but wanted all kinds of injury stipulations that Pedro balked at. He thought he was being disrespected

The Mets offered the 4th year at guaranteed money and the Sox just weren't willing to risk matching the deal.

95 fastball

nasty curve and changeup

and throw in Maddox/Glavine-like control (ok, maybe not THAT good)

This guy was one dirty pitcher in his day.

HOF for sure.

Did he ever win a World Series?
