Orgazmo 2 Posted August 4, 2007 I think the 49ers really step up this year. Between the offense improving to keep them rested, their FA and draft aquisitions will play immediately. They had some productive (ff-wise) stretches last year.
sandmanuz 0 Posted August 4, 2007 Have to rank the Bears/Ravens/Chargers as 1- Then Pats/Denver/Dallas After that I think you take a late gamble on GB/MN. For reasons mentioned earlier being they have the talent and upside, and they are in the NFC North.

parrot 789 Posted August 9, 2007 Anybody worried about the SD coaching changes in respect to their defense? I'm pretty sure they're going to be my keeper but this is the one minor concern I have.

I'm pretty sure they're going to be my keeper but this is the one minor concern I have. I'm not so worried. Wade Phillips was a great coordinator, but we got Ted Cotrell who led the best rushing defense last year, and we also snagged Ron Rivera, Chicago's defensive coordinator from last season, and roped him into coaching the linebackers. If the defense were to suffer this season, I wouldn't say it would be because of lack of intelligent defensive minds.

Cotrell had little to do with that rushing defense...but while you paint that as so rosey...I see you leave out that they also had the 2nd worst passing defense in the league. FeelingMN 273 Posted August 9, 2007 I will never draft Chi/Balt because they go way too early, but they are the top two Ds. I actually landed Baltimore last year as about the 5/6 defense taken; they were coming off a 'weak' 2005. So I prefer to wait and land a solid D with potential. I do like Denver. They don't have much of a rush, but I believe Bates is a good coordinator and will put people in position to make plays. No one's mentioned Pitt? perennially a good D, and now has Tomlin as coach who was the DC in Minny last year, not to mention Lebeau is a very good DC. Another team I will be paying attention to is TB. They have addressed an aging defense and I like Kiffin as a DC. Since they're on absolutely nobody's radar, just someone to watch in the first couple weeks and grab them if they show anything at all. I don't like Minny at all this year. I think they'll be a good D, but nothing compared to what they were last year.
worm 36 Posted August 9, 2007 1) Baltimore2) Chicago 3) San Diego 4) Patriots 5) Jacksonville & Denver Sleepers: Raiders & 49ers That's basically my list, with Denver just above Jacksonville. After that I have Pitt, Dallas, & Philly; in which order I can't remember.
Sho Nuff 720 Posted August 9, 2007 Thank you to the mods for deleting the crap that was in this thread. Top 5... 1. San Diego....play 2 games against a 2nd year QB in Cutler, 2 games against Oakland, and 2 games against a down KC team. Oh...and they play the NFC north this year too. Thats 4 games against the likes of Grossman, Favre, Kitna, and Jackson. Also a game against Houston thrown in there as well. 2. Chicago 3. Baltimore 4. New England 5. Denver Later round gems to rotate...Minny and Green Bay.
Pimptaddy 0 Posted August 9, 2007 A good fantasy D will help win a title, but you can still win a title getting defenses off the waiver wire and playing the match ups. Take a top 5 D if you can get one in round 8-10, otherwise wait until late and build depth with your WR and RBs.
