hagler 0 Posted August 15, 2007 I am not a Cincy Homer or anything like that.............. I just don't see why Rudi is constantly ranked 9th - 11th in all RB rankings in NON=PPR???? No added value for catching passes--fine.....but does S.Alexander, LJ, or Willie Parker??? Word is he looks great in camp---has even trimmed down a bit & worked on leg strength in the off-season.... Positives you can' argue with: very good O-line great offense never gets hurt Nobody & I mean Nobody to steal carries (K.Irons done for the year) Goal-line back C.Henry out for 8 games --loss of a Red-Zone threat Everybody says he doesn't have any upside???? Why would you draft SA or Westbrook & even FWP over Rudi? SA - downside of his career? O-line question marks? Foot Injury? Westbrook - Injuries? Injuries(Did I say injury again)? Mcnabb getting hurt can lower Westbrook's production...--Tony Hunt at the goal-line? - disappears some weeks... FWP - Barlow & Najeh at the goal-line? Lightening up workload after last year? Tell me why Rudi isn't the better selection.....
Fumbleweed 517 Posted August 15, 2007 The lack of receiving yards and relatively set ceiling make him about the 9th most valuable running back, IMO. He's a safe pick, but there's not tremendous upside as much as the Bengals love to throw in the red zone.........
swirvenirvin 25 Posted August 15, 2007 id be happy with him anywhere after 8 and might take him in the 7 slot, hate he faces balt def twice tho
oneinchgroups@100yds 0 Posted August 15, 2007 You know what you're getting with Rudi (1200 and 10-12) which isnt good enough for me. He had 120 yds receving last year and even if its not a PPR league that is not enough total yards to warrant an earlier pick. As said above, Palmer throws to many red zone tds and Rudi doesnt break many long ones. The upside is you know what youre getting and alot of the rbs taken earlier have alot of question marks behind them, Its a matter if you want to take a chance at 1700 total yards and 12-16 tds or you want mr. consistency. GobbleDog 985 Posted August 15, 2007 Its a matter if you want to take a chance at 1700 total yards and 12-16 tds or you want mr. consistency. Rudi Johnson '04 - 12 Tds '05 - 12 Tds '06 - 12 Tds He's pretty much a lock for another 12 Tds. But isn't it possible that Rudi could get just a couple extra goal line carries this year and all of a sudden your looking at 1,500 and 14 or 15 Tds!?! As good as the Bengals offense is, I wouldn't be at all surprised. In short, I think Rudi has a little more upside than people currently see in him.
fatty98 1 Posted August 15, 2007 One thing to remember is that Cincy plays Baltimore the last week of the season...which doesn't affect fantasy football. Those who are knocking Rudi down because he faces Baltimore twice are doing a disservice since he really only faces them once.

HawgWild 0 Posted August 15, 2007 Rudi is solid and consistant you can't argue with that.. And if that is what you are looking for with your number one pick then grab him and rest easy.. Some others are looking for a little more upside than he has.. I took him with my first pick last year and while he had a good season I must say that I feel like he did not produce as much as I would have liked from my number one pick... I would take him again if the draft falls that way but I would rather have someone else with a little more upside.. .JMHO

kutulu 1,660 Posted August 15, 2007 One interesting stat and I am not ripping Rudi as he help me win my first FF last year, but 2006 Cincinnati Bengals Rushing Avg. 3.8 2005 Cincinnati Bengals Rushing Avg. 4.3 That's a half yard less per carry. Course he gets the rock a lot, but something to keep an eye on, IMO.
Mullog 12 Posted August 15, 2007 I agree...he's very safe at 8-10. Any sooner and your passing on guys with higher ceilings.
jocstrap 8 Posted August 15, 2007 Because he's never scored a receiving td in the nfl I actually was the 12 pick in a 12 teamer and was very excited to take him.

Mangatang 0 Posted August 15, 2007 nice playoff schedule anyways #1 softest SOS (Strength of Schedule) for running backs during ff playoffs (week 14-16). http://www.fftoolbox.com/football/strength...dule.cfm?type=f I have the 8 spot this year, and I am targeting Rudi. Mostly because of consistency but also because of that playoff SOS.
aggiewildlife 0 Posted August 15, 2007 I personally don't look for "upside" with a 1st round pick and prefer consistency. I look for upside starting a few rounds later. In the early rounds, I want and focus on players who I feel comfortable are going to perform the way I expect them to. Rudi embodies that and it's the same reason why I have players like FWP and Westbrook valued at around 15. I don't think you need "upside" in a 1st round pick to win. I've won several times with a first round bust, which has largely shaped my current viewpoint about consistency vs. potential. I don't want anybody losing goalline carries, anybody with major injury concerns, and other red flags.
soopacee 0 Posted August 16, 2007 i got love for Rudi, and i completely agree......."cant go wrong with rudi" i took him 9th overall last year....he helped me win a championship the most consistant running back in fantasy......hands down
mdubz 0 Posted August 16, 2007 he's been pretty much the same the last few years...finishing around that 9-12 area. i think that's why people have him there. he's consistently GOOD, not GREAT. i think his rankings reflect that.

Combine that with Palmer being off for the first half of the year getting his knee right.

shovelheadt 68 Posted August 16, 2007 Cause if Irons had not gotten injured Rudi would have been relegated to back by mid season. Puhhhhhlease. Rudi's best numbers were when Chris Perry was on the field for a whole season.
Smashmouth 0 Posted August 16, 2007 i got love for Rudi, and i completely agree......."cant go wrong with rudi"i took him 9th overall last year....he helped me win a championship the most consistant running back in fantasy......hands down Take a look at LT, LJ, and Westbrooks fantasy numbers over the last few years... I'll give you that Rudi is the most consistent second tier RB in fantasy, but not in all of fantasy. I had him last year, I remember the stretch in mid season where he was putting up average numbers. I remember seeing him get stuffed at the goal line a bunch of times. He should have had closer to 18 TD's last year. It wasnt because he didnt get the opprotunity. He is ranked right where he should be.
krayzied240 0 Posted August 16, 2007 simply put, if you want to make the playoffs, then draft rudi if you want to win the bowl, you gotta gamble w/ someone else yea, i know, i'm not factoring all the other position, but its the best i can explain for the rudi situation =)
