Direct TV Sunday Ticket Deal - threaten to cancel

Recommended Posts

direct tv called me and told me the total choice package that I now own is not going to be available anymore.

They game me the best package for 5 months, all the movie channels...yada...yada...yada.....also I ended up getting NFL Sunday Ticket plus SuperFan ....both FREE!

I just need to change my basic package by the end of december, so I do not get billed for that big package.

Call their bluff, fxdx. Like Moz said, it is a guarantee that customer retention will call you back. There is no way they will pass up whatever dough you are willing to pay. These are airwaves that they are slinging. There is no extra cost to them for you to receive the service for whatever price you agree to pay them. Something is better than nothing. I thought $150 was fair so that is what I threw out there.

I love the fact that Agent575 actually did $15 better than I. Good job, buddy.

It's been 2 full weeks and I DID NOT get a call back with a better offer from DTV, which really surprises me! Maybe they have caught on to everyone.

Man, you guys need to move to Canada. Here's what we get.

NFL Sunday Ticket

NHL Centre Ice

NBA League Pass

MLB Extra Innings

OHL Action Pack

Nascar Hotpass

US College Football and Basketball

All this for a 6 month subscription to the "Super Sports Pack" on digital cable. Most games in High Def. All Nfl in HD.

Subscription rate, $19.99 for the first four months and $29.99 for the last two months. $139.94 for six months of everything above. Even if you didn't cancel it would still only cost $160 for the six months of football season. Not to mention Canadian money is worth a little less than an American dollar.

If you don't believe me here is the link

http://www.cogeco.ca/en/sports_super_packages_o.html

Being Canadian is so wonderful :pointstosky:

I here you guys have a great healthcare program to

You guys come over to our side to get treatment when you are put on a waiting list

WHat you gonna do when our Pres offers us the same thing? :shocking:

I got a pretty good deal. called and said it was too expensive for me this year. my wife was already mad that we canceled showtime, so she wasn't down with me paying almost 400 bucks for ST + SF. blah blah blah

They gave me SF for free, 10$ off my bill for 6 months (taking ST down from 279 to 219) and free Showtime for 6 months. Didn't take much haggling at all.

Why dont they just smarten up and provide this for Cable subscribers which FAR outnumber the sattelite people. Theye are leaving a ton of money on the table staying with stoopid dish or whatever.

Plus cable TV people arent cheap bassturds looking to save a buck on everything. We are STOOPID enough to keep paying cable companies whatever they want. :headbanger:

The NFL doesn't want their games watched on fake compressed HD, pumped through some crappy analog cables. They do want to try and charge us DTV people an extra 100 bucks for HD content though!

Truth of the matter, they obviously know exactly what we're all doing. They just don't care. They have maybe a million ST subscribers. Of those million, maybe 20,000 call in and make a deal. The other 900000 just pay up like good consumers do.

The funny thing about this thread is that due to stats being the major concern of many of us the whole concept of paying to watch any game you want just isnt worth it. More people would jump to Dish if it was and they arent so that speaks volumes about how important this really is. I'll just watch whatever games they stick us with locally and watch the stats on the internet. Thats all that really matters anyway. Knowing who just scored touchdowns is the #1 priority and the internet sites like RT sports have live scoring all day long for us. Excellent!

Besides... of all the games each week only a few are actually good or watchable anyway so why do I need all of them? True fans of teams living out of the area certainly benefit from this NFL package...but fantasy football fans dont need it at all. Its faster and easier to check who just scored using NFL.com or whatever other stats site than it is switiching from game to game. How annoying.

ST has "The Red Zone channel". It only shows games where one team or another is inside the 20. I usually watch my pathetic Lions (as I'm in SoCal and they only play nationally once a year), and switch to Red Zone Channel during commercial. Also worth mentioning is you can input your entire fantasy team (2 or 3 actually) into the Sunday Ticket and it shows your stats in real time on a little ticker at the bottom.

I called actually wanting to cancel because it was getting expensive, I wasnt just threatening. I remembered threads like this so I was waiting for the offers. They took it down to where I would pay like $250 for the year for Superfan and HD and the whole deal and I could live with that so I kept it. I think they offered $10 a month off for 6 months and I said no, and then they went $20 a month off for 6 months and I said ok.

First off, you really shouldn't try to talk about stuff you obviously know nothing about but I can't blame you because I know how the education system works in the good old US of A.

But in the interest of NA unity I say that you can come on up and use our education system - seems you need to do grade 4 again?

To listen is to HEAR, not "here" and when you want to say that you have heard something "also" you would say ...great healthcare program TOO, not "to".

If you want the real scoop on public healthcare, let me know, I would be happy to explain how it works for most people.

Its people like you who keep the price climbing. If people just paid for it, then we might actually get a stable price. They let you pay for it over time, and if you can afford HD then you can afford Sunday ticket and SF. Crazy how damn cheap some people are. thumbdown.gif

<_<

You guys are all cheap focks who keep the price climbing for the rest of us.

Most people = those who don't get sick.

Those who do, trek there ass across the border to get treatment before they're dead. Your government has labeled it an unsustainable crisis and is in the process of figuring out how to get private insurance to co-exist with your socialist nightmare.

Let's stick with football...

I'm calling to see if I can swing a good deal.

Completely false - don't presume to know more than me - I have lived with this system my entire life and have dealt with plenty of family members having serious illness, from heart attacks to cancer and as insignificant as broken limbs and the level of care is just fine.

Unsustainable? Socialist nightmare? What right-wing rag did you get that from?

You state you are calling for a good deal, is that on prescription meds? We can afford to take those up here you know.

Spoke to a nice customer retention specialist in Idaho who gave me -$20/month + free DVR service for 6 months.

Roughly $160 total savings.

Oh I can tell you all about it. Commie-Pinko socialist Canadian Govt takes almost your entire focking paycheck and redistibutes it to losers so they can go to the doctor whenever they want. No thanks. Fock poor people. They are poor because they made lousy decisions and want us to pay their way.

Health care is NOT a right.

It's like ticket prices. If we keep paying them they will keep going up.Someone has to stand up to them.I have a family of 5 and live check to check and pitch in with both my neighbors or could not afford it.i see nothing wrong with telling a company how you feel and playing hard ball.If they value you they will meet your needs. If not than part your ways.

What is up with the non Sunday ticket red zone channel?

Ive had the ticket for a decade but if this is free then I could live without it.

So since I canceled it right after the season was over I'm basically screwed. They track the calls after you call so they know what the offered you. I called a second time and they told me that they already offered it to me for $5 off a month. I even talked to a manager and he said your account doesn't qualify for anything. He then asked if I canceled at the end of last season, I said yes I thought I was supposed to. He said well maybe if you did not cancel last year we could do something for you.

Fock em the only reason I have it, is for NFl Ticket I'm gonna cancel them

I canceled my Sunday Ticket this year and I was totally stoked to findout about the NFL's redzone channel. To me, that mostly makes the ticket irrelevant anyways.

I wonder if directv is going to show it tho?

I know Comcast has it, but I doubt directv is going to show it. I'm not sure if it's an extra channel or it's shown on the NFL net's normal channel. If it's an add on them I'm guessing they won offer it.

I'm the process of switching my house to FIOS anyways but from what I understand, the NFL redzone channel will be available on all cable/satellite providers that carry the NFL network.

Red Zone Channel on DIRECTV

Question

Does DIRECTV Offer the Red Zone Channel?

Answer

The Red Zone Channel is available from DIRECTV as part of NFL SUNDAY TICKET SuperFan.

While other providers are now offering The Red Zone Channel from The NFL Network, they will not be able to offer coverage of all NFL games in their entirety. The Red Zone Channel from the NFL Network will only show highlights of games and will only be available in select programming packages.

OHL Action Pack

fock me....Id trade 100s of my channels just to get the OHL action pack..or TSN or *sniff* cbc...im glad the hockey network shows HNIC but it isnt the same...

direct tv is ok...great for sports..especially the opening days of tennis  and golf..multiple channels for each....

but overall...direct tv is a big FALE compared to the days of the big focking dish..that thing ruled...

live feed news and sports..

2 canadian satellites...

WHL hockey on wednesday nights..

nascar with no commercials..

channels focused 24/7 on big news events...saw the entire Waco thing uncut...THAT was reality tv...

live car chases everyday..

days of free NHL and other sports...*sniff*

plus you could pick a # opf channels..any kind you wanted..no limit...

direct tv should get into the live feed game...as it is..its just more and more expensive for channels you dont watch...

Just so some of you are aware, the RZ channel that is now available with non-DirecTV companies is not the same one that comes with Sunday Ticket. The version that ST as you all know is good coverage and goes where the action is....where as the new one is only allowed to show a game that is in the Red Zone and if there is none you will get the pleasure of looking at a graphic of some sort to represent what may be happening in the game you cannot see...lol.....whats funny is that a team could be on the 12 yd line and get a 10 yd penalty and they may be forced to leave the game again for the graphic.....I am happily sticking with my ST and SF.

I am paying 135...but I probably would still pay the 500.....or quit loving football. Hopefully next year I won't have to decide on that. lol. Just wanted to post since I believe a lot of folks are confused about what the new one is exactly.
