edjr 6,939 Posted November 5, 2007 he did not spurn them, the players union did, they refused to let Arod take the last 3 option years off of his contract, which he ended up doing anyway. I still don't know how I feel about Arod being a red sox. The sh!t he let Boras pull is bush league.

I wish there was more Red Sox & Yankees coverage so i could have kept this straight.

(myself not included of course) The Red Sox did have a trade in place for ARod and Arod was willing to come here. The Red Sox would have done the deal if Arod were willing to drop the last 3 player option years on his contract and he was. However, the union refused to let him drop those 3 years. The Yankees were willing to take him with those 3 years being intacted, so he ended up with the Yankees.
hoytdwow 202 Posted November 5, 2007 Dear God, please let it not happen. I couldn't stand to watch him mince around like a fairy with all his exaggerated gestures and mannerisms for a whole season. To say nothing of he and his agent's douchebag antics.
BMoney 0 Posted November 5, 2007 that lockerroom would have him lighten up..he would focking tear it up like few others have seen in the playoffs... a focking salary cap would be my #1 choice...

edjr 6,939 Posted November 5, 2007 I really do not want him on the Red Sox. I do not like him. I'm still not sure. I appreciate how good he is and 2 months ago I wanted him to be on the red sox. The more I think about it, I guess I'd be ok with it.
Evil number 0 Posted November 5, 2007 I hear there is no way the sox would pay what he is currently asking. And you figure there must be a team that has offered a lot of money or why else would he have opted out of the contract with the Yankees. Either there is a mystery team (Like the Tigers or Dodgers) that have talked to Boras before he opted out or this could be one of the dumbest agent moves all time by Boras. I wouldn't mind having arod on my team but i would just be worried about losing other players because he takes up so much salary space. I'm actually a little concerned about how many players the Yankees will sign this off season with the savings from Arod.
TommyGavin 790 Posted November 5, 2007 Hope he goes to the Dodgers. Out of sight out of Mind

DBZFan2K 0 Posted November 6, 2007 The only way I would want to see A-Rod in a Red Sox uniform is if he is Plan B. I don't care if Mike Lowell is not likely to put up the production to match what he'll make in his next contract, I want him back anyway. He is a perfect fit on this team. If he signs elsewhere and is no longer an option, then throw the money at A-Rod and ensure that we'll have his bat in the lineup for the next decade, because Manny is not getting any younger (turns 36 next spring). Here's how I see it: I hated that fat fock David Wells, but while he was pitching for Boston, I rooted every time for him to pitch a great game and win. I put all the other stuff aside. If A-Rod signed with Boston, as much as a drama queen he is, I would welcome him with open arms, because all past things aside he would provide a major help to the team. It would just be weird at first. Having said all that, best case scenario for me would be Lowell re-signing with Boston, A-Rod signing to be our SS and trading Lugo and Crisp for a quality RP. Next best scenario is Lowell re-signing and A-Rod going to the National League. Final acceptable scenario would be A-Rod signing with Boston to replace Lowell after he signs a big contract to play elsewhere (preferrably not NYY). After that, Red Sox had better trade for another corner infielder that can match or exceed the production of Lowell, or they are in deep doodoo.

Know Doubt 0 Posted November 6, 2007 I thought I read where the Cubbies were offering 'part ownership'? I agree Boras wants too much but someone will pay it, probably the Angels. 3b for the Angels is okay but how can Figgins out produce ARod? Plus all the Angel kids seem to keep getting injured and now they are thinking about Brandon Wood moving from ss to 3B. The Sox should keep Lowell, ARod isn't that great at 3b, look at his Zone Factors, etc. It's wierd but he was a better fielding SS. I really think he should go back there. STILL a fan of the D-Backs, so fock off!
TommyGavin 790 Posted November 6, 2007 I thought I read where the Cubbies were offering 'part ownership'? that was either bullshhiitt or tampering because that rumor was out when gheyrod was still property of the yankee$

edjr 6,939 Posted November 6, 2007 I hear some guy named Youkilis can play 3rd base. Why move a gold glove 1st baseman that hasn't made an error in going on 200 games now? he's found his niche, leave him alone.
Mungwater 601 Posted November 6, 2007 I thought I read where the Cubbies were offering 'part ownership'? Thats was BS, especially considering the cubs are for sale, there is no way MLB allows that to go through. The only reason the Cubs are mentioned is because of his relationship with Lou. As a Cubs fan, I would much rather spend that 30 mil on another outfielder and pitching.
cgod 0 Posted November 6, 2007 I think it was a bad move by Boras. I doubt any team offers him more than what the Yankees offered him. In the end it will end up being more about the length of the deal than the money. Sure he'll get a boatload of money but he may take a few mil less than he would have made these next 3 years to end up with an 8-10 year deal.

If the Sox got ARod and let Lowell go then I would play Arod at Short and just try to find a really good defensive 3rd baseman who is an ok hitter. You don't need a great hitting third baseman if Arod is your shortstop. Youkilis is a great first baseman but may be a liability at third.
