I am an engineer and work on a lot of Airport Projects. I was out at O'Hare inspecting some stuff and Air Force One was coming in. They totally shut everything down. They parked it way in the corner of the airport. They also shut down the damn expressway when he travels from O'Hare to downtown Chicago. It makes for a mess when he comes in around rush hour.

Always wondered why they still use that gay 1940's style stairway thingy.

I mean, we GOT hydraulics. We HAVE the technology. Just bring the guy down that way. Sure, maybe leave the stairs for the stupid press, but the Prez? C'mon!! He's all trying to wave and smile and pose all while walking down a steep-axx set of metal stairs. That just can't be safe.

You woulda thought that after Ford tumbled down the damn thing that somebody woulda put an end to that.

They should hand him a jet pack to help him descend. :dunno:

That image made me LOL. I would let them double my taxes just to see George Bush trying to control the jet pack while SS agents furiously chase after him on the ground. "WOOOOAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!" :dunno:

I was in the Air Force...White House Communications. While it wasn't my job to go on there, I worked with people that did. It was cool.

I had a buddy that worked maintenance on AF1. When Clinton came to MN, he arranged for me and the family to get a tour and when he retired (2002), I flew down to Andrews for his ceremony and got to climb around in there.
