I forgot to mention ... busted a student for plaigarism

Recommended Posts

Sorry .... but yeah .... I totally narked on this chick. She's been disruptive in class as well ... talking while I lecture, obviously not taking the class seriously. That's it, she's out ... and next week, I'm gonna go over what "MLA Standards" means .... just so everyone knows ... and also because most of them don't know.

WTF happened to being good at English in our public schools? This is supposed to be a basic class on general computer applications, not English 101.

No, that is rediculous on any level, much less a college level course. At Central, you get caught it's automatic expulsion, they really don't fock around with that. I can't believe how stupid and lazy people can do, take another 20 minutes and write the paper yourself, christ, your in college.....

3-5 pages .... double spaced. Not everyone can do that in 20 minutes ... but I hear ya.

Copy and paste from Wikipedia to Word ... 3 minutes. Already heard the joke, "Well at least she learned to copy and paste!"

Gonna hafta be more clever than that.

FYI, I also provided her with a highlighted area of paperwork she recieved week 1, that outlined an academic honesty policy, when I talked to her. Like I said, I told her "I hope you understand how serious this is."

First time I've had to do this ... but I don't feel bad.

If she was hot ... and offered sex for a grade .... OF COURSE NOT!

YOU SICK BASTAGE!

:ninja:

BTW: I'd just lose my job .... and it wouldn't even make the news. Wouldn't be a crime.

Still be kinda pervy and improper.

I have no tolerance for bullshiat.

Irony: contradiction, such as a difference between appearance and reality or a difference between what is said and what is meant. Irony often has a mocking or sarcastic tone.

That's better. Your students are lucky to have such a professional instructor.

I worked in I.T. for twenty years and semi-retired into a teaching position at a college about five years ago. People like you are the reason that too many people have no respect for instructors/teachers. Seriously.

"Plaigarism" :music_guitarred:

Shouldn't you learn how to spell the word correctly before you try failing a student because of it?

Good! SOMEONE is paying attention.

Ooooh, I.T. ... that must have been exciting. I bet you really get your students riled up about the time the servers crashed ... and you had to drive in the snow to a Radio Shack ... but I digress.

Do you assign papers ever? Do you read and grade them? What would you grade a paper about the wrong subject and stolen word for word from Wikipedia?

Must be a great school if stuff like that is not a big deal.

I did not mean to offend you. What I meant was that your students deserve more than a deranged drug induced pedophile for an instructor. They deserve more than an instructor that tells them to be strippers and rambles on incoherently about sex for grade deals on internet message boards. I guess you are lucky that you found a school that will hire people of your caliber. Somewhere where all they require of their instructors is that they have that piece of paper.

If she ripped off someone else's story about what she was doing on 9/11, she deserves to be flunked.

Nice work :pointstosky:

But the fact of the matter is I'm NOT a pedophile and I did NOT tell a student she should be a stripper.

And if they can't take a joke ... fock 'em.

I got a lot more than a piece of paper pal. I've been using Adobe products since 1990. You know how many Graphic Design students from the University of Arizona were able to go to New York and get work in 1995?

One. Me. I've worked for some of the biggest ad agencies and publishers in the world ... AND I have a great education, that I worked for and paid for with very little parental help.

So yeah .... they should be focking honored to get a teacher like me.

You still didn't answer my question. What kind of grade would you give?

I'd have torn it up, doubled the assignment length and assuming she brought in a flawless paper I'd have given her a 60 just to pass.

Ok, well I could do that, and she'd fail the final exam and fail the course. Be a waste of both of our time. I don't just make up arbirary crap so my students pass. They have to do the work and understand the material.
