KSB2424 3,125 Posted July 16, 2008 Did he really go into the HOF with a Yankees hat? You've got to be kidding me. He played what, 3 maybe 4 years with them, and his best seasons not to mention the most were with the Red Sox. What is the story there? I must have been out of the country or something when all that went down cause I don't remember it.
Lionsjunkie 1 Posted July 16, 2008 While we're on the topic....did I see Wade Boggs with a Yankee cap I know he played for them and is in the Bronx but come on, he was a shadow of his former self while playing in pinstripes He had 7 straight 200 hit seasons with Boston and never cracked 170 in 5 seasons with NY. http://www.baseball-reference.com/b/boggswa01.shtml

KSB2424 3,125 Posted July 16, 2008 Don't believe everything that you hear. http://www.baseballhalloffame.org/hofers/d...playerId=111153 I didn't hear it, I saw it on TV. All the HOF'rs had on the cap they went into the Hall with. Some like Gary Carter and Dave Winfield were wearing their Expos and Padres respectively, but held up a Mets hat (in Gary's case) or a Yankees hat (in Dave's case) to show they also played in New York. Boggs was actually wearing a Yankees hat and didn't have a Sox hat in anywhere in sight. Hence the question.
ZeroTolerance 583 Posted July 16, 2008 The big deal was that he wanted to go in with a Devil Rays hat which was going to force the Hall to change their rules in order to make him wear a Red Sox hat. What can you expect from a guy who says he drank 16 beers on cross-country flights.

So you assumed that he went into the HOF wearing a Yankees cap because that is what the others did (or sort of did). Don't believe everything you see. Jurassic Park was fake. HTH. BMoney 0 Posted July 16, 2008 he shouldve worn a Rogaine hat.... if fred mcgriff makes it to the HOF, he should wear that hat he wore in the baseball instructional videos with Tom Emanski
mighty_thor 115 Posted July 16, 2008 Boggs Plaque. I'm sure he just wore the Yankees hat because the game was at Yankee Staduim and he didn't want to get booed.

KSB2424 3,125 Posted July 16, 2008 So you assumed that he went into the HOF wearing a Yankees cap because that is what the others did (or sort of did). Yes. That is why I asked a question. When everyone else was wearing the hat that they went into the HOF with, and you see a player wear a hat that you did not think they should have, is it not logical to ask the question? It was obvious what was going on and Boggs totally dissed the RedSox. Whether it was intentional or not he really stood out. Jurassic Park was a movie. I'm pretty sure that Wade Boggs is a real person and they played a baseball game last night. Not sure why you are trying to be a smart ass? Is there a reason why Boggs was the ONLY person not to wear the hat they went into the Hall with? Does he still hold ill feelings toward Boston?
Wyatt Earp 0 Posted July 16, 2008 Not sure why he did it, and not sure this matters at all ..... but when the showed him on tv, the graphic with his name and induction date listed the Red Sox as his team.... so maybe he knew that the viewing public would know he went in as a Red Sox, and he only wore the Yankees hat since he was in NY. Not sure why he didn't go with the 2 hat method Winfield used and just wave the Yankee hat. Then again maybe he is bitter towards the Sox and wanted to stick it to them... who knows. Patriotsfatboy1 1,432 Posted July 17, 2008 aren't you the same guy that said Clemens didn't do steroids when I accused him of it years ago? Umm. Can you show a link to that? I have never doubted that many players did roids. Aren't you the guy that said that thought that Britney Spears is going to make a great mom?
