edjr 6,578 Posted August 16, 2008 How many of those teams that lost in the Superbowl and went on to suck the next year, had already won 3 SuperBowls in the last 6 years? The closest is the Rams, but they were coached by Mike Martz? c'mon now. The Patriots still have their entire team intact and I believe Belicheat will somehow motivate them again this year. sirensong 111 Posted August 16, 2008 the super bowl loser curse is usually caused by a combination of three factors--player losses, fatigue, and lack of focus. how does NE stack up WRT these factors? fatigue may be an issue, due to extensive postseason play over the last few years. i don't see any problems with the other two. Big_Pete 0 Posted August 16, 2008 I think the reason for the curse is because usually, the Super Bowl losing team comes from out of nowhere to make it to the playoffs and the Super Bowl. They usually are teams that up to a few years earlier didn't even make the playoffs, or got embarassed in the playoffs etc.... They are never a proven powerhouse like the Patriots (barf, I hate the patriots). I think the Patriots will be just fine.
49ER MAN 0 Posted August 16, 2008 I think Brady will be more overvalued than Moss. Manning and Marino had solid but not record breaking seasons after they had 49 and 48 TD passes respectively and I expect Brady to come back to his numbers of previous years. We all know Moss won't get 23 TD's again but certainly you'd think he'd be good for at least 15 TD's if not more.
Joey Gladstone 33 Posted August 16, 2008 The Seahawks proved the curse doesn't exist two years ago. And the Bears, like a lot of other teams that have lost the Superbowl recently, just had a fluke season.
PackYourNut 47 Posted August 16, 2008 The Pats D is OLD... other then that, they don't have a glaring weakness... that may or may not catch up with them at some point.
LunaTick 30 Posted August 17, 2008 Could it be really an inversion this year? I am more apt to think the Giants do not repeat than the Pats
Filthy Fernadez 2,696 Posted August 17, 2008 The Pats D is OLD... other then that, they don't have a glaring weakness... that may or may not catch up with them at some point. Their secondary took some hits too but they always seem to recover nicely from personnel losses. It's hard to imagine someone actually taking Brady in the top 5 but if I had pick 7 or higher and either one of them was still there, I'd take em. Grab a lower tier RB on the way back.
