They just keep Gross around for his defense and arm,his BA sucks...Hinske had a great start but the last 2/3 of the season he didnt do much...Rays should stick with Baldelli and Fernando Perez in RF

Phillies take game 1 by a score of 3-2. Lidge's 50th straight save. The game was way closer than I would have liked.

 

Some notes:

 

Howard was a blithering idiot both in the field and at the plate. That can't last. It can't. It was sheer miracle that he had his ass saved on two major gaffes in the early innings.

 

You can't leave eleventyhundred men stranded in a game of this magnitude.

 

Phillies were 0-for-11 tonight with runners in scoring position. OH-AND-ELEVEN.

 

They "got away" with game 1 behind fabulous pitching and Chase Utley.
