You know....I was thinking maybe that as well. Then I remembered the egg they laid last week vs the Redskins. Don't get too excited, this is the Cowboys afterall.

I'll agree that they have played as good as anyone in teh NFL in 4 of the last 5 weeks, but they have two luxuries today that they won't enjoy in the playoffs..... a home game and an opponent as weak as the Cowboys.

Dont get too ahead of yourself, they are the 6 seed and need to win 3 games before they play the colts

Minny at home will be a tough opponent, but it appears the common theme for Eagles fans is understimating them. How any fan can think so highly of the Eagles after they tied the Bengals this year is beyond me.

I was thinking that, too, for a fleeting moment... before I realized that since a balanced attack worked very well today, Andy Reid will most assuredly take Buckhalter out of the lineup and pass 70+% of the time next week and the Eagles will lose 31-3 and then he'll have some smartass remark at the press conference and the same old song and dance we've endured here for a decade.

And still, some douchebags will say, "I remember when we didn't win any Superbowls before Andy Reid got here" and then I'll have to remind them that we haven't won any since... and the round and round we go!

Well, a tie with Cincy sure did suck, but the Giants lost (which is worse than a tie from what I understand) to the Browns and I think they still have an itsy bitsy shot. It's a long season, most teams have a terrible game or two. The records are all cleared now. It starts over.

Philly can come out next week and play like they did in Washington and get beat by 20, or they can play like they did against Arizona, the Giants, amd Cowboys and win the game.

The fact is, they survived that crappy Redskin game and got new life. That's all any Eagle fans was hoping for.

The Vikings are not the Browns or Bengals so I wouldn't be excited to face them if I played for the Eagles, let alone were a fan of the franchise.

What does Vegas have to say about it? I'd be shocked if the Eagles weren't favored or if it weren't at least a pick 'em.

As I said, the Eagles are capable of going to Minnesota and beating them 31-10. Unfortunately, they are also capable of losing 14-3.

Well, NOBODY wants to play the Eagles who showed up today, or the guys who beat the Giants two weeks ago, but all five teams would love to play the anemic, uninspired team who travelled to Washington last week.

Problem is, who knows which team will show up?

Philly can get up for games, and can do so even in stretches. But their problem is they can't ever sustain it. Let's not get ahead of ourselves. They beat up on a gutless Dallas team that didn't bother to show up, but they also blew a huge opportunity by losing to a sad Redskins team a week ago. So how about you start out with Minn and hold off on the SB talk?

WTF should he "settle down"? They Eagles just beat the piss out of the hated Dallas Cowboys in a win or go home game. ALL Eagles fans should be happy, excited and by no means "settle down". We're in the playoffs baby and anything can happen. Go cry in your T.O. jersey!

Cause this thread is just as pathetic as "Americas poster" pumpire.

Of course ANY of the teams that are in the playoffs can win, but I do believe that the fans should have the same mentality of their team. If one has a different mentality it starts to bleed through to the other.

And right now, the eagles need to worry about today, and this weekend. And that is IT.

BS! He psoted this immediately after the Eagles won a HUGE game against their bitter, hated rival and actually made the playoffs when EVERYONE had them dead. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a little chest-thumping by a fan after a win like that...wild-ass predictions are what fans do and believing your team can and will win the SB is what I would expect of any fan. F, if you don't think your team can and will win it all then what the heck kind of fan are you?

Now, if he posted this in a thread dicussing the merits of this weekends games, then I'd agree with you. But he didn't. In this context, there is absolutely nothing wrong with his post.

E-A-G-L-E-S, EAGLES!! :overhead:

Other than the thread-starter, I don't think anyone in this thread is assuming that the Eagles will go to the Super Bowl or even necessarily beat Minnesota.

One thing about Eagles fans in 2008 is that we've been condistioned to be extremely excited, then let down bigtime. On two seperate occasions this season, we believed we were eliminated from teh playoffs (after the Cincy tie and after the Redskins loss). We've also thought we may be one of the top teams in the league a few times.

As great as we looked yesterday against the Cowboys, every single Eagles fan here knows that they have the possibility of going Minnespota and losing 14-3 and get about four first downs all game. We also know that we have the possibilty of going up there and laying a 37-3 ass-whooping on them.

The problem is, even if the do the latter, an inconsistant team like Philly, with so many road games ahead of them, is an extreme longshot to make it all the way through to the Super Bowl.

hey man, im just an eagles fan and i just wanted to express my excitment that they got into the playoffs...

Think about it...

wouldnt you be pumped up if your team needed the bucs to lose along with minny or the bears??

the bucs got beat in the last minutes of that game playing the raiders!!! that alone got me excited...

the bears were winning against houston, but houston came back and won the game...

then the eagles come out on fire and stomp the boys!!!

cmon, you would be excited and pumped up too if all those things happened within a few hours...

im just an eagles fan having fun and enjoying the victory and the playoff birth...

also think about this.... what fun would it be to have the boys in the playoffs?? eagles are a better team, so the eagles deserve to be in the playoffs more than the boys..

Not really. You have to consider that teams that win really weak divisions, get home games. Wild card teams generally have to earn their way in.

There are a few teams who didn't even make teh playoffs who would be considerable favorites against Arizona.

i don't think that they would come out flat next week. too many reasons to get up for the game. first of all it is the playoffs. secondly donovan is still trying to prove he is the qb that can lead this team to a superbowl. third, reid faces his former offensive coordinator. and lastly, mcnabb may be thinking that his play could be an audition for other teams interested in him in the offseason. should be a good game and i think we have a much better chance to see the eagles team that beat the boys versus the uninspiring team that played against the skins.

they have a tough opening round game with minny. the teams played a close one earlier this yr [23-16?]. the x-factors are whether the eagles will sigh relief after closing the season and its distractions by sinking the rival cowboys, and minny coach brad childress, who is familiar with philly: can he be a better coach than we all think he is and come up with a gameplan for a win?

Maybe because the handily beat the Giants on the road, and beat up the Steelers earlier in the year? :dunno:

It's anyone's SB this year. I like the way the Birds are playing, however it remains to be seen if Reid can stay consistent with THE gameplan that works, and that's running the ball and giving Buckhalter snaps.

And Reid/Johnson are very familiar with Childress. Works both ways.

The Eagles are gonna make the Vikings beat them with the passing game. They are clearly a one dimensional team, and that bodes well for the Philly offense.

On top of that, beating the Giants twice in one season in Jets Stadium.

Thanks to the grueling NFC East schedule this year, they are most definitely battle tested and ready to go. Reid needs to stick with the gameplan, keep it close, and not allow the defense to get field position and make it happen.

oh yeah, no doubt. this game is whether minny can get max protection enough times/for a long enough time to complete some throws downfield into man coverage, and whether donovan can stay hot and not fizzle back to inaccuracy on a day when the running game will surely have a tough time getting production. a close game late has an advantage for both teams: the philly defense versus inexperienced jackson, or the minny offensive line versus the smaller philly defensive front.

reid will need to stay patient with the running game, and childress will need to prove he is not as much a moron as we all think he is....those are two tough prospects for either set of fans! the experience of philly will be big, especially if peterson gets off early and the crowd is rowdy. i dont see the eagles folding or losing focus against an uphill situation [like, say, their pervious opponent did 24 hrs ago.]

We sure do have short term memory around here. Philly needed help yesterday after blowing a huge opportunity to a sad Redskins team a week ago. The question for Philly has never been can they get up and play a big game. The question for them is, can they sustain it. The Philly hype machine was in full force a few weeks ago after stringing a few impressive wins together, including the one over NY. But I caution all those ready to jump back on the Philly bandwagon, as history seems to suggest as soon as they get a taste of success... there's usually a Washington game lurking somewhere around the corner.

Um, the first post and subject line.

Have you ever heard of him before? it's probably a Pimpdady alias.

The real Eagle fans on this board know full-well that their inconsistancy makes them a longshot to go all the way. Especially since they won't have any home games.

This wouldn't be a big concern for me. They may not be road worriers this year, but they are a veteran team who has proven they can win on the road.

Don't worry. After handling the Giants and Steelers this year, there is not one single team that I would say scares me to play. Not saying I think we'd beat anybody, but there certainly isn't any team in the playoffs that the Eagles can't beat for one game if they play like they did yesterday or against the Giants two weeks ago. I don't care if it's home or away.

I just don't think they're consistant enought o keep winning road games against good teams week after week. Maybe my confidence in that will change if they win a game or two, but as of now, I can't see it happening.
