Strike 5,967 Posted January 29, 2009 anyone? [e] Seriously? Those operations don't have a very high success rate and can be very painful. Sleep Apnea is usually treated with devices such as a CPAP. Who is suggesting an operation?

Strike 5,967 Posted January 29, 2009 my doc said try the cpap, but i want a fix, not a device... There are no guarantees with those operations. When I was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea I was told the success rate for those operations was something like 25%. It's really low. And they are very painful procedures. The problem is that you potentially end up building up a bunch of scar tissue which just kind of replaces whatever was there inhibiting your breathing to begin with. That's why they use CPAP's instead. They don't have to operate and the success rare is much higher.
phillybear 366 Posted January 29, 2009 I took a couple of sleep tests. I have sleep apnea and frequent insomnia, like most super intelligent people do. I gave up on the CPAP mask after a week. If was borderline suffocation, and that should be saved for rubbing one out occasions. I need a different one. The surgery is risky, as it could really fock you up. I prefer to trudge through life sleep deprived and in a semi-vegitative, zombie like trance.
wiffleball 4,797 Posted January 29, 2009 I can't do the CPAP thing. I'm pretty sure I'd have "Top Gun" fighter pilot dreams and, seeing as how that's the gheyest movie EVAH, I really don't a lubed up "iceman" running through my haid. Sleep on your side. That's what I do.

Have you tried this? http://nomask.com/ I couldn't use this because I am a mouth breather, so I have to use the fighter pilot mask...
