Brad Childress was just being interviewed on ESPN about Percy Harvin

Recommended Posts

He was asked how they were able to overlook his positive test for weed, Childress said "he's got a nice personality and a great smile"

How is this guy still a head coach in the NFL?

Great smile? bwahahahahaha.. is this the dating game of the NFL draft :shocking:

I'm sure if BB did an interview about Brandon Tate, he would say he's got a great smile. :shocking:

LMAO - That is the greatest answer of all time. Teams should ALWAYS draft based on a nice personality and a great smile! Who needs Wonderlic? Who needs agility drills?

I seem to remember that Travis Henry had a nice personality and a great smile - at least lots of woment thought so.

Well, as far as dodging questions from the media goes, I'll give Childress points for style.

I'm sure they went through a screening process with the player. A drug test usually can tell you not just whether someone has indulged in the banned substance, but also to what degree. It could well be a situation where the level of the banned substance in the blood indicate that it may have been a one time thing, then I think it's no surprise they took a chance on the guy.

Another thing to remember that Weed is not performance enhancing, or addicting, so if the team is convinced that he's not gonna do it again and they think the talent is there, they will take the risk based on the upside and hope they dont have another Ricky Williams situation. Of course, I think Williams was a heavy smoker and was willing to walk away from football to allow himself to maintain this 'bad habit'

of course williams had a very good career for a number of years prior to running into problems, and this may well be a situation they looked at as well.

either way, good for Childress that he didnt get roped into a conversation where no good can come of the result.

So right before the biggest interview of his life he chooses to smoke weed for the 1st time? Yeah, right!
