RBBC's!

Recommended Posts

In the following RBBC situations, which situations do you see a clear starter emerging, someone who is worth drafting in a redraft this year, which are worth taking a flyer on, and which situations do you see as completely untouchable and not worth drafting anyone in?

Jets - Jones, Washington, Greene

Balt - McLain, Rice, McGahee

NE - Taylor, Morris, Maroney, etc

Denv - Jordan, Moreno, Hillis, Torain, Hall, Winder, Wilhite, etc

Ariz - Hightower, Wells

Tampa - Ward, Caddy, Graham

Oak - McFadden, Bush, Fargas

What a mess! I think that decisions about these groups could be key in anyone's redraft league this year...

You forgot the Carolina RBBC, and I would probably draft Stewart ahead of all mentioned above (except for maybe Thomas Jones and Knowshon)

I purposely left out the Carolina RBBC as I see that situation as very easy to call - both DeAngelo and Stewart are valuable and expected to put up good fantasy numbers. The others I see as much tougher to call...

A good post, mostly because the odds are that at least one, and probably 2-3 of these guys will end up as top 15 Rb's next year. Guessing right in the middle rounds on situations like this can really make your season. (D-Will 08 anyone?)

We're gonna have to wait till training camp to really see how some of these situations pan out, (like Tjones) but my gut feelings right now are.

Fred Taylor will be a mid round steal. I dunno, just seems like a perfect time for Belechick to show everyone how smart he is. Fred still has gas left in the tank.

Moreno and Wells will be the next two guys to have. What with all the recent rookie Rb success. It's a copy-cat league.

Oak - McFadden, Bush, Fargas i like bush as a late round flyer, or Fargas really late(round 16 or after)

I bolded who i think is going to end up with the most fantasy points in each situation.

What's up with McGahee? I haven't heard much about him or the Balt RB situation. McLain looked very good when he got his chances last year, any chance he starts?

McGahee had his knee scoped right before the season began(during preseason i think?), I think that he should be healthier this season, and when healthy i think he is the most talented back on the roster.

Jets - Washington

Balt - McGahee

Denv - Jordan

These 3 I fell a little better about calling which is the back to have.

NE - Taylor

Ariz - Hightower

Tampa - Ward

These 3 I am not as sure about.

Oak - McFadden, Bush, Fargas

No idea really. I will make a guess and say Bush.

Of course it is still really early and a lot can change.

my guesses as to which backs have the best fantasy stats by seasons end.

as a jets fan i see alot of people taking Washington. I know its the trendy pick but I just am not sure the new regime will utilize him as much as they are claiming.

The one's I've made green above are the players I expect to emerge as the starters and if not injured I expect each of those in green to score the most fantasy points for a running back for their team in 2009.

The only clear winner is Moreno in Denver - easily about 75% of the work if he's healthy all season. All the other ones are too 'iffy' to call.

NYJ - cluster, with Washington getting 3rd down work for sure.

Balt - The only projection I'd put money on is McClain getting the short yardage goal line work.

NE - true clusterfock.

Arizona - I'm guessing RBBC all season.

Tampa - ditto

Oakland - another clusterfock.

Not on the list but the Bills could be interesting to watch. Lynch is the man but right now he is suspended the first 3 games. Which leaves the door open for Fred Jackson to make a mark early in the season. He could play well enough to force RBBC in Buffalo.

Ranked in order of my preference -

Arizona - wells over hightower, I expect big things out of ole beanie

Oak - McFadden should get the best shot due to his contract

Jets - TJ with a blend of the other two. This is dependent on Jones realizing he has no bargaining chips and getting into camp.

Denv - Moreno with a flyer on Jordan (I would just take jordan in the last round somewhere) - not a good value

Baltimore - McGahee looked pretty good last year, but its tough to say

Tampa - Ward?

Didn't they sigh Dominic Rhodes too.

People should keep an eye on Indy. Donald Brown will be hard to keep off the field.

Some good thoughts, however I have a diferent slant on Denver. I noticed nobody was giving P. Hillis any love with the arrival of Moreno and Jordan, among others. Let's remember that Jordan hasn't shown anything spectacular in years, and Moreno is a rookie.......and despite the success of some rookies in last years draft class (which was, btw, phenominal), the fact remains that most rookie RB's don't have a great first season.

Hillis was unstoppable during his time in the sun last season before injury. He was a bull with soft hands, and nobody could stop him. He is, imo, way undervalued this year and will make a great hisk risk/reward flier in the late rounds for me.

Actually, I am still hoping that he gets traded!

I think I still have Hillis on one 'deep keeper' but I am not planning on him making my cut. I agree he has some talent in the right mix,. and I think there's a very good chance he will get traded - primarily because he has just about the most trade value.

But those thinking that Denver will be RBBC will be mistaken. The old adage - when you have 8 RBs on your roster, it means that you have NO RBs on the roster - was true before this draft. So IMO Denver won't be able to sit Moreno much:

A. He is just too good to sit or be in any significant RBBC.

B. The fans in Broncoland will fall in love with him fast, and having been taken with the 10th pick in the 1st round (instead of a DE), there would be more of a McDunce uprising in Denver than Bowlen can take.

Jordan's job is particularly at risk. The only reason they will keep him is if he can help impart the system to Moreno in a back-up role as kind of a "player-coach' type.
