wiffleball 4,788 Posted June 10, 2009 Stupid comparison. June 10 (Bloomberg) -- Edward E. Whitacre Jr. built AT&T Inc. into the biggest U.S. provider of telephone service over a 43-year-career. By his own admission, he becomes chairman of General Motors Corp. knowing nothing about the auto industry. I bet he couldn't build a focking phone when he took over AT&T either. I bet Lee Iacocca didn't either. Pretty sure Jack Welch doesn't know how to build a light bulb. That's a damn site far away from hiring a guy who ran a small arabian horse farm to lead FEMA. KSB2424 3,148 Posted June 10, 2009 A white Texas rancher with a history of giving to predominantly Republican candidates and causes is "Obama's choice"? The U.S. Treasury, which is backing GM’s restructuring with about $65 billion, reached out “some weeks ago,” Whitacre said, enticing him out of retirement to help oversee a company that has lost almost $88 billion since 2004. I think it is fair to say that he is the Govt's (Obamas) choice. Since they....reached out....and asked him to oversee the company and all.
parrot 789 Posted June 10, 2009 I think it is fair to say that he is the Govt's (Obamas) choice. Since they....reached out....and asked him to oversee the company and all. Whatever. From what I understand he was recommended by Wall Street and auto industry types. Pretty obvious that the appointment is logical and the guy pretty well qualified to run a major corportation, rather than a political favor, which was the knock on "Brownie". In fact I'm going to give Obama props if he did make the choice; nice work putting aside political differences and favoritism in the name of effectiveness Pres. I doubt they care about those people. They aren’t like Trump who personally delivered supplies in Puerto Rico because he looked after all Americans.
