Jags - Derrick Morgan (if Clausen is there they will probably trade down)

1.10 Jacksonville - LB Rolando McClain, Alablama

Another team likely to trade down but if they keep their pick McClain would be a nice fit. Morgan is a viable option as well.

Make that    for McClain, although it makes me Giants mad as they hope for him to fall all the way to 15. And with that, Dez falls out of the top ten.

Thanks for updating the thread...couldn't get back on the PC last night. :dunno: About 1/3 of the way through round one...let's jam out at least another third today.

Mock draft ROONED. :bandana:

The pick here is clearly Dez Bryant.

I hear ya, but I did read that Det. is going to convert him to TE.

Denver - Dez Bryant

Seems like a natural, but it also seems that Denver is gushing too publicly about Dez for it to not be a predraft smokescreen. With Jacksonville saying they want to trade down, it seems like someone could move up to take Dez.

I think J McD painted himself into a corner and has to talk him up and take him. Maybe not but its a WR league and they need a solid threat. Will see in a few days.

Denver - Sergio Kindle

no way in h*ll they take a malcontent WR when they just got rid of one. The WR class is deep, just not top heavy so they pass on Bryant

Dez Bryant

There are plenty of WRs to choose from in rounds 2-3, none of them can match Bryant's skills. Who else do the Broncos have at WR? Royal/Gaffney....? They need someone to open up the passing game....to give them a threat downfield. Dez is that dude.

I think whatever teams that end up passing on Dez are going to regret it down the road...

1.11 Denver - WR Dez Bryant, WR

Malcontent or not, this is an area of need for the Broncos and Bryant is best of show at the position.

I think it would makes sense for Miami to look at an edge rusher: Jason Pierre-Paul, Jerry Hughes, Sergio Kindle. But they're hurting at DT too.

Dan Williams, DT Tennessee is the pick

1.13 - QB Jimmy Clausen (Notre Dame)

At this point, Clausen is the best player available. And though Alex Smith played OK last season, he's clearly not the future of this franchise (and neither is backup David Carr). The 49ers also need CB help; however, they can still grab a good CB in the 2nd round (maybe someone like Kareem Jackson, Patrick Robinson, or Devin McCourty, etc.). They won't have another shot at a franchise-calibur QB later in the draft.

1.13 San Francisco - CB Joe Haden, Florida

Clipped from Tony's most recent mock...

With help in the secondary already a need, the team is pleasantly surprised to find the top CB in the draft fall out of the top ten. Forget the Combine 40 time, Haden is a shutdown corner who creates turnovers in the air and on the ground. He could go as high as 7th overall. If Haden doesn’t make it this far, S Taylor Mays or S Earl Thomas could be the pick, as well as offensive line. They are also likely to consider an offensive tackle here and maybe even a linebacker. There is also a lot of discussion of their potential interest in RB C.J. Spiller, both for his running and to improve their return game. It is an appealing strategy, but the opportunity to really improve a couple other areas makes more sense when the depth chart is already solid at running back. An interesting scenario could be QB Jimmy Clausen falling this far. Many who believe Cleveland won’t select him are mocking him here, as recently exiled GM Scot McCloughan was the top proponent of incumbent QB Alex Smith. Smith’s contract is also up this year, so the team should likely address QB at some point in this draft, if not this high.

Depending on the progress today, may institute a two instead of three nominations to pull the trigger on a selection in order to get this done tomorrow. Closer we get to the NFL draft, the more likely some trades will go down that will throw this puppy out of whack. Let's get'er done.

I guess Seattle is on the clock.

1.14 Derrick Morgan, DE, Georgia Tech

It's hard to pass on Joe Haden based on pure value, but there is nobody on Seattle's roster that can rush the passer. Derrick Morgan fits one of the three most pressing needs on the team: LT, DE, FS.

1.14 - DE Derrick Morgan (GTech)

I think the Seahawks would love to nab either C.J. Spiller or Dez Bryant with this pick, but both are gone at this point. Morgan is probably the best all-around DE in this draft, as he is very tough against the run and also has potential as a pass-rusher. The Seahawks lost Darryl Tapp, so Morgan also fits a need for them.

1.15 - DE Jason Pierre-Paul (South Florida)

With McClain gone, I think the Giants pull the trigger on JPP -- who is a player they supposedly really like. Plus, they're allegedly shopping around Osi, so JPP would fill his spot.

I'll second this...I read the Giants GM covets Pierre-Paul.

Giants - Jason Pierre-Paul

I could see the Giants pick best player no matter what position - J Haden, or E Thomas, but if like you say they Like JPP then let it be....

Titans - J Haden
