Dez Bryant - Issues already with his teammates?

Recommended Posts

Don't buy into this TMZ crap. Dez is the real deal. He has been the first guy on the practice field and was the first 1st rounder to sign. Don't underestimate this kid's potential to blow up and blow up big. Then again, if your fantasy team is built on character, you can always buy into this story.

It's not really a big deal. Everyone reacts differently to situations like this and Dez has everyright to say no. The veteran players have every right to respond however they see fit. What's important is that respect is maintained between all of them.

Not everyone reacts differently in a situation like this...if they did, it wouldn't be a story.

Also, the fact that carrying a veteran's pads is considered "hazing" is a slap in the face to real hazing. Hell, Orakpo got taped to the goal post last year and you didn't see him crying about being disrespected. It's call being humble and paying your dues. Two things a punk b1tch like Bryant has never learned. It's good thing for him that the cowboys don't have any real leadership on that team or he'd have some serious humble pie coming his way.

SAN ANTONIO (AP)—Dallas Cowboys rookie receiver Dez Bryant(notes) said he never expected his refusal to carry Roy Williams’ shoulder pads to become such an big deal.

The first-round pick also said he didn’t know that rookies carrying the pads of veterans after practice was a long-standing ritual.

“I told Roy this, I said if that situation was going to turn out that big, he could have walked in with his tights on,” Bryant said after the team’s first of two practices Tuesday. “I would have took his shoulder pads, his pants, his helmet, his socks, his shoes. I would have took everything. But you know what, that’s not even an issue.”

Bryant, drafted 24th overall from Oklahoma State, said he is trying to do all the right things.

But when Bryant didn’t carry Williams’ pads after the first workout in pads Sunday, plenty of drama and headlines ensued after the rookie said then that he was drafted to play football and not carry someone else’s gear. He jogged off the field without commenting Monday after the story had spread quickly and widely.

Though Bryant is expected to challenge for the starting spot opposite Pro Bowl receiver Miles Austin(notes) on a team with Super Bowl expectations, Williams has repeatedly said that everything is good between the receivers.

While signing autographs with fans shouting their support for him Tuesday, Bryant agreed.

“We are fine. Matter of fact, it is not even a situation,” Bryant said. “Me and Roy are great. Not only Roy, but the whole team. … Everybody on the team likes me and I like everybody on the team. (Reporters) are trying to put me and Roy against each other. That’s not going to happen. We’re trying to do something real special here.”

Bryant, who before camp agreed to a five-year contract that guarantees him at least $8.3 million, said he has no problem with another rookie tradition of paying for meals. He has already gotten a $1.95 million signing bonus and is due a $570,000 roster bonus during camp.

As i stated before... something really stupid that the media tried to blow way out of proportion to make a headline out of nothing

I don't like it just because it was Roy Williams. The guy is a waste of space. But also because if I'm in direct competition with some guy, I'm not going to be subservient to them.

Dez isn't passing Roy this year. I actually think we'll see a lot of 3 WR sets with Roy and Dez on the outside and Austin in the slot. Austin is going to get covered by safeties. :overhead:

I agree, but not because Roy deserves it. Look how long it took them to get Austin envolved last year? NFL coaches can't seem to find the best players on their team for some reason.
