Lake209 46 Posted September 17, 2010 Read my signature below. I start Romo, SJax, A.Foster, S.Smith-CAR, and D.Bowe. I must start 1 more "flex" from 5 possibles: R.Bush, M.Floyd, J.Knox, Sims-Walker, and J.Gresham. Had this problem last week. Started Knox (3 for 56 gave me 8 points). The only one that fared (by only 1 pt) better was R.Bush. *R.Bush: PRO) Good for 10 pts most weeks. Has San Fran in W2. CON) Good for 10 pts most weeks. *Floyd: PRO) Rivers. W1 targets excellent. Jags in W2. CON) Gates & Naanee. *Knox: PRO) W1 targets good. Talented. Entrenched starter. CON) Cutler. Bears O-line. Dallas this week (?) *Sims-Walker: PRO) End-of-last season stats. CON) Where are the end-of-last season stats? W1 goose-egg. Garrard. Del Rio. San Deigo in W2. *Gresham: PRO) Mine, off waivers! What's not to like. Beast-like. Palmer/Ocho/Owens/Benson. CON) Rookie. Ravens in W2. Ok, boys & girls. Pick'em. 1 only. If you are nice, tell me why. I'll fire back.
Axe Elf 0 Posted September 17, 2010 If 3 for 56 got you 8 pts, it must be a ppr league. So how does 6 for 25 and a TD (Gresham) not get you 14 points? Gresham is about a lock for 10 points as well, but you couldn't be blamed for starting either Bush or Floyd. In fact, I'd probly start Floyd over Bowe in your WR2 slot, and then you can start Gresham with a clear conscience.
callahan28 0 Posted September 17, 2010 I think floyd could easily get a td or maybe even two. I know gates is his target, but when they played the chiefs, rivers looked for floyd twice in the endzone but just couldnt connect. Im not sure how many points will be scored in the cinci game, but gresham is definitly a receiving te because of his size so i would look at starting either of those two. Bush isnt one of my favorite players because he seems very up and down and sims walker didnt have a single point last week.
idlewild 6 Posted September 17, 2010 Thanks for the *great* advice on mine! I'm still concerned about MSW, especially because SD will be fired up next week for sure. Here are my thoughts: Bush - agree with you on him: he's good but he's not going to get you more than 10 points. Still, there's something to be said for consistency... Floyd - I think he's very much overrated and Naanee takes over from here. He dropped a ton of balls last week. Knox - I like him, but the Bears have some decent other receivers. So he's boom/bust, but I think they'll be forced to throw against Dallas and he'll get his. MSW - ugh. I have him too and am concerned, but I think he might deserve a shot... Gresham - I love him, but the Ravens are a tough match up. It's a *very* tough call, really, but I would rank the top three: 1. Knox 2. MSW 3. Gresham
Daltnator 19 Posted September 17, 2010 Im big on Floyd. Hes such a big target, got thrown at a lot and is the number one with Jackson not there. i just like the guy in he couple of games I saw him in last year!! Thanx for mine!!
yyz2112 0 Posted September 17, 2010 Hard call this early in the season. I feel like FloydKnoxBush will likely score similar point totals, but Floyd has the best upside. He's got Rivers throwing and a Jags D that's friendlier to the pass than that of any of your other receivers with the possible exception of Bush, who won't be seeing as many targets. Thanks for the wisdom. Three years playing and I still get jumpy after W1... some things never change.
dub 0 Posted September 17, 2010 Wow this is quite a difficult choice this week. My thoughts: Knox- Bears WR are typically worse ###### teases than a southern baptist gal on prom night. Just when you think they are primed to have a monster game, they give you 3 for 28 or some garbage. I think the game with the cowgals is going to be low scoring so avoid Knox... R Bush- with all this silly Heisman talk over the past week, will he come out distracted? Or want to let his numbers do the talking? Personally, I think the Saints are going to blow this game wide open early and Bush def has the potential to have a few of those scores. And the PPR could add up if I am wrong and the game is close... Sims Walker- As a jags fan, I can comfortably say the offense is pretty shoddy this year and MJD is the only bright spot on that side of the ball. I always have a tough time playing a guy unless he has given me reason to. With that said, let's keep going down your options... Floyd- exactly what Idlewild said...but Gates will garner most of Rivers attention in the red zone. That also means Gates will garner most of the Jags defenders inside the 20. Ultimately, I think Rivers will try to ride the hotness of Naanee until he gets cold... Gresham- I always like starting a player right after I get him off waivers. Nothing worse than riding him on the bench and ending up never starting the guy. But the Ravens sure do make it tough to start this TE! If you think this game is going to be close and Cincy will have 2 or more possessions in the red zone, he is your choice. Personally, I wouldn't go with a Rookie TE as a flex player the week after he got his first TD, especially when he is going up against a defense as stout at the Ravens.... R Bush- biggest upside for a monster game, IMO
j0ker 3 Posted September 17, 2010 It's a toss up between Bush and Floyd. Rivers was pissed that entire game at KC and will not lose at home. They gave Mathews his shot and he fumbled and had a mediocre night at best, Rivers will do what he does best and that's throw a ton...Floyd could be in for a good night. Bush has the potential to break it open at any given time. Saints should go up quick in that one and he could see a lot of touches. That said I think I like Bush slightly better http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=370524
phorts 0 Posted September 17, 2010 your ONLY options are Floyd and Bush, maybe MSW. Floyd is overrated? Dropped a ton of balls? Did any of you guys watch the game....or anything besides stat sheets? Please. First of all, it was raining...that's #1. So it was a ground and pound type of game and Floyd didnt DROP any passes save one that wasnt his fault. Those missed targets were ALL rivers overthrowing (3 times in the last 4 plays in the end zone). FLOYD, not Gates, is Rivers first look in the end zone..he's taller, and Gates is busy pickin up goal line blitz D. SO, it was raining and Floyd STILL got 12 targets.. what!? Crazy talk. Yes, Nanee is a nice receiver but a totally different skill set...he's a burner and he'll stretch the field much like VJax did, only he hasnt developed the rapport w/ Rivers quite yet, is not as sure handed or as good a route runner. He was saved by that one big TD catch that was a short dump pass and he was wide open and KC blew the covereage..other than that he couldnt get free to save his life... I think that will get better throughout the year but Floyd is the #1...bottom line. Your other players have tougher matchups. The Jags are not as much of a CON then those other matchups and Floyd is the most talented in that group with the best QB throwin to him. Floyd all the way. ANd don't freak about Bowe..he played in the same rain game and Cassel knows who is money man is. So many good things out of camp about Bowe and his work ethic and he looked real good...i'm throwin that game out the window for ALL involved (Bowe, Matthews, Floyd, etc, etc). ANd Gates is a beast...end of discussion. Bush is a nice option too but there's no tellin whether all this Heisman talk is gunna distract his performance or motivate him. The San Fran D is not as bad as they looked and can shut down the run (they did at least one good thing last week vs SEA). Good luck and thanks for the help w/ mine! badassbroncs 0 Posted September 17, 2010 I would go with Bush as he is going to be the safest and most consistent pick out of this group.
ziggyschiefs 0 Posted September 17, 2010 i'd have to say Sims-walker and Gresham are out based on matchups (look what Bowe did against SD) Knox and Floyd are both supposed to be WR1 but haven't shown it thus far. i'd go with Bush http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=370560

Jeepz 0 Posted September 17, 2010 I say Floyd. Naanee's stats came with one big blown coverage. I think the weather and an under appreciated Chiefs D at Arrowhead had a lot to do with the Chargers pass attack. Then maybe Knox but I want him to show me something first, let him (and the Bears) prove it against Dallas. http://www.fftodayforums.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=370584
sublime8365 0 Posted September 18, 2010 Thanks for your help on mine. Sorry for the delayed response. I don't really do PPR's very much but I guess I like Bush here because he'll be involved in the passing game and he's always a threat to break a big one. Floyd would be my number 2 pick but I'm concerned about his targets.
