Bill E. 703 Posted November 8, 2010 Last week I found a really nice 3-6 Million year old gomphotherium tooth. These were ten feet high elephant like proboscideans related to the Mastodon and Mammoth but the gomphotherium was much older and was extinct by the time that the Mammoth came around. Anyhow, I usually only find one or two of these per year so it was a great find. This one has a really glossy ivory enameled cap. I also found a leg section of a larger Mastodon tooth but the gomph tooth was the real find. Here is the photograph along with several of the other finds from the last couple of weeks. http://megateeth.com/blog2010/2010/11/08/gomphotherium-and-megalodon-teeth-found-the-last-half-of-october/ Larger photo of the tooth: http://megateeth.com/blog2010/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/103110b.jpg

There is no way that proboscideans in the Early Miocene period had dentists putting in caps. That did not happen until the Late Miocene period. HTH.

There were no dentists back then. The barber did most of the dental work.

GettnHuge 2 Posted November 9, 2010 Thanks. Any update on when the election final count will be in? I forgot that this could happen when I set it up. Very anti-climatic. ??? Looks like they've narrowed it to 6 undecided with Repubs up in 4 of those. Still at 61-
Bill E. 703 Posted November 10, 2010 You have found a lot of teefs, ever any sunken treasure? Sorry, I did see it but answered something else. If you mean gold or silver sunken treasure than no. That is a real needle in a haystack. Many of the teeth that I found sold for two or more thousand, so these are a form of sunken treasure.

drobeski 3,061 Posted November 10, 2010 No it's not. You're right if you factor in the thousands that think you're uncool. I was being nice didn't want to give you the negative tally.
Turducken 0 Posted November 10, 2010 You're right if you factor in the thousands that think you're uncool. I was being nice didn't want to give you the negative tally. Wrong again. A million people thinking I'm uncool does nothing to the amount of people who do think I'm cool. Are you still asleep?
Mookz 1,343 Posted November 10, 2010 Personally, I think these teeth should go to the families of the deceased, and you have no right to them. But, whatever.
Bill E. 703 Posted November 10, 2010 Personally, I think these teeth should go to the families of the deceased, and you have no right to them. But, whatever. They actually belong to the insurance companies that paid the death benefits all those years ago. I am only holding the fossils for them.
Bill E. 703 Posted November 10, 2010 Wrong again. A million people thinking I'm uncool does nothing to the amount of people who do think I'm cool. Are you still asleep? Set up a poll and ask people here what is cooler, 2-5 million year old fossils or some uckinTurd.
