Me_2006 14 Posted March 20, 2011 Rua almost kicked Jones once. Any of you guys see that? And just think of all the science nerd mumbo jumbo that would have done! Hell, if Bones had stood still, Shogun would have beat the sh!t out of him! What a beast!
The Moz 69 Posted March 20, 2011 Wish I could say good fight but it was a man fighting a 8 year old kid.. I have seen Shogun fight alot and I know he is not this bad but damn he got his assss kicked every which way..

ens189 1 Posted March 20, 2011 So you are saying he could stand the whole fight and win it if he wanted too? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm................
ens189 1 Posted March 20, 2011 Jones is just really that damn good. wow!! I didn't see it being that lopsided at all. I would say Jones is going to be another Spider but I thought that about Machida when he looked unbeatable able the Rashard fight. I will say I can't after this see Jones losing to Evans or Rampage. He won't, first real test is gonna be Phil Davis in a few fights.
ens189 1 Posted March 20, 2011 Only one choking on the cack is you on Jones' dong. No one here is saying Jones will not win. You on the other hand started watching this sport probably last year and are a broken record over a couple fights SHogun had in the UFC. Just wanted to point out another outstanding post by you with your expertise, you sit down with a bag of Cheetos and some Mt. Dews to watch to next UFC: Unleashed and I'll actually be in the gym. Somehow you saw me insulting Shogun (Who I claimed was vastly overrated and proved it in this fight)as picking a fight with a fanboy like you (who you proved to be). tubby_mcgee 700 Posted March 20, 2011 So you are saying he could stand the whole fight and win it if he wanted too? Not sure if he predicted it, but if he would have...he'd have been correct. Stats Jones Rua Strikes Landed 102 11 Strikes Attempted 142 42 Strike Accuracy 72% 26%

Somehow you saw me insulting Shogun (Who I claimed was vastly overrated and proved it in this fight)as picking a fight with a fanboy like you (who you proved to be). I'm not a Shogun fan boy at all. It's hilarious you are ripping me for picking Shogun in a fight I thought could go either way. Congrats to you. You were right about Jones. He is good as we all knew he would be some day. His striking surprised me, couldn't have predicted he could stand with Shogun when he has resorted to taking sloppy wrestlers down his whole career. I guess he kept his stand up game in his pocket. Again, congrats...errr something. I was wrong.
Super Cubs 153 Posted March 20, 2011 Now the question is can Evans contoll Jones the way he did Silva and Rampage?
listen2me 23 1,831 Posted March 20, 2011 Now the question is can Evans contoll Jones the way he did Silva and Rampage? Jones opened up at -535 vs. Evans. And I say no.
Super Cubs 153 Posted March 20, 2011 another question is the ufc super fight Silva/GSP or Silva/Jones?
RicemanX 20 Posted March 20, 2011 Well shoot, I'll eat crow, Jones is the real deal.
ens189 1 Posted March 20, 2011 Jones opened up at -535 vs. Evans. And I say no. On the contrary I say he does, despite his pedigree Rashad actually has very sloppy wrestling and I don't think he'll be able to compare to Jones at all.
The Moz 69 Posted March 20, 2011 I don't think Evans will be much for Jones. Both are about equal strikers though I will give Evans an edge on power - but the ground game isn't close. Rampage has a shot just becasue of his power and sheer strength but thats more of a punchers chance. Davis if he continues to look good maybe has a legit chance. Again I thought the same about Machida when he dismantled Evans and then turned out to be not nearly as good as thought by many. Jones looks more versatile than Machida and better but I will wait until Jones does indeed beat Evans convincingly to mention him in the same conversation as Spider and GSP.. As for Shogun - he isn't as big as most of the Light heavys maybe he should move to middle weight. Also I see Jones as a heavy weight in a year or 2.
Super Cubs 153 Posted March 21, 2011 After watching the beating Jones put on Rua how was Bonnar able to last 3 rounds with Jones. On the contrary I say he does, despite his pedigree Rashad actually has very sloppy wrestling and I don't think he'll be able to compare to Jones at all. Stop hating and bashing and pay attention. Because on the contrary the two of you are on the same page with Evans not being able to control Jones.
RicemanX 20 Posted March 21, 2011 I haven't seen Rashad fight a great fight since 2008. So I think that -500 line looks fine.

I'm surprised it actually is that high, but I still wouldn't think of betting Rashad. Although I was pretty wrong on the main event, I made a few bucks on a Barboza, Marquardt, and Faber parlay. The Moz 69 Posted March 21, 2011 sad thing is thats the last PPV I buy for a while. GSP while great is boring as fock to watch and I refuse to buy a event he headlines unless it's Spider. Too bad it's a while before the Lesnar - Dos Santos card.

The Moz 69 Posted March 21, 2011 My apologies. Just wait a few more fights though before we put him in a tier like Spider or GSP.. remember everyone thought Machida was the next ... before that Rashard was the next... Let Bones beat Evans and Rampage ( assuming Rampage beats Hammil) then start the comparisons.

There is a short list of LHWs I would like to see him fight before I proclaim Bones to be up here Liddell was 8 years ago, where BJ Penn was 4 years ago, and where Spider and GSP are now. Rashad Evans for sure. Rampage Lyoto AND FEDOR

Rashad Evans for sure. Rampage Lyoto AND FEDOR Fedor is a no shot. He is only 34 which in MMA isn't all that old but he has lost his last 2 fights against nobodies - I think he has either lost it or lost interest and he doesn't care about money so I doubt Fedor fights again. Machida - lost his last 2 fights only one other than Evans and Rampage would be Phil.

Mr Wonderful would not be able to take Bones down, and he would stand no change standing up with him. but yes, after beating Lil Nog, Phil Davis would probably be considered a top 10 LHW
mobb_deep 920 Posted March 21, 2011 Jones picked him part. I thought Jones would win, but not in such a dominating fashion. That was just a clinic.
RicemanX 20 Posted March 21, 2011 UFC finally started taking a few pages out of WWE's book and are making some decent promos. So sick and tired of the dude with the deep voice narrating everything...zzz http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbvpdWpqQw4

Phil Davis needs a lot of work still, but he is real early in his career. He is more of a potential guy. Right now he would most likely be slaughtered on the feet. And I'm not sure anyone can take and keep Jon Jones down in the LHW division. Fedor isn't going to 205. Even if he did I doubt he would be a factor at the top. Me_2006 14 Posted March 22, 2011 And I'm not sure anyone can take and keep Jon Jones down in the LHW division. I agree. He's too big, long, and athletic. He has the frame to pack on 25 pounds comfortably and that reach is just retarded. When a guy has that kind of natural size advantage and happens to be a ridiculous wrestler, he's hard to stop even if he's one-dimensional. But as creative and explosive as Jones is in his striking, and assuming he's fighting on raw ability at this point (compared to the others in the UFC) he could rattle off a series streak unless someone catches him on the chin. listen2me 23 1,831 Posted March 22, 2011 At this point, I'm not even sure if Brock Lesnar or Cain Velasquez could take Jones down... He and Dana White has said he may need to go to HW at some point. He is still filling out, still getting stronger. I'd love to see it eventually. Randy did it in a time that the HW division was weak. Cain-Jones - I have Cain in this one. JDS - Jones - That is a tough fight to call. Lesnar - Jones - I have Jones winning. Carwin - Jones - I have Jones winning if he just dances for a round until Carwin ends up on E. The Cain fight is weird. I don't think Jones gets him down, if he does it would be a trip toss or something and Cain i think would get back to his feet. Jones' reach would become the deciding factor. Cain is an animal though with endless cardio.\ As much as I love his talents it kills the division for me. I hate to label him unstoppable before he even defends a title. But to kill Shogun like that...who I and pretty much everyone else viewed as the best of 205 hands down. There aren't even that many great stylistic match ups for him. No real great BJJ guys at 205....Shogun was probably the best of the top 10. Rashad will be dwarfed. One guy I have written off for a while now is Rampage. He hasn't been the same. But I threw on the Henderson/Rampage fight and damn he looked good. He was in such great shape and it showed. Wish he could get back to that form some how. I think a lot of guys have better striking than Jones...that reach is just too hard to get through. Plus Jones is going to get better each fight. Cain-Jones would be my dream fight...or Overeem if he were to prove his hype vs. the better HWs.

When Evans beat Griffin and was un defeated everyone thought he was the greatest becasue he destroyed Forrest. When Machida destroyed Evans He was thought unstoppable to beat Evans so handily. Jones has to beat a few people before I label him dominant. He goes through Evans and Rampage then yes he is. He should be able to beat both but both Evans and Rampage have big time power in their strikes and Rampage power period. If Overeem can pass a drug test and remain as dominant as he has been then a Overeem Cain fight would be great. Also I hope Shogun goes to middle weight and fights Spider assuming Spider beats GSP which I assume he will.
