Paleo OR zone diet?

Recommended Posts

I've been trying to tweak my diet a little bit recently. I workout regularly, but I think recently I've been taking in too many carbs while trying to bulk. I've got a little too much fat on me right now. I've heard guys say that during cutting diets, their energy is crap, and they start to lose some muscle along the way. My goal is to shed about 20 lbs., and try to continue to add some lean muscle mass. My concern about these diets is,I don't want my body start wanting to burn muscle for energy. Anyone have advice on either of these?

Cut out carbs. The fat melts off and if you are working out you will build muscle at a faster rate than you would have normally.

You feel like crap for the first week or so, but once your body gets used to it you actually have a shocking amount of energy. Only eat good carbs, like veggies. No sugar at all, no potatoes, pasta, or bread. It's like a miracle diet for me.

NO BEER. Forgot about that one.

But you can drink hard alcohol as long as you drink it with a mixer that has no sugar in it. Vodka soda is the best. Also because there are no carbs in your system you get REALLY drunk fast.

I'm a big fan of the Paleo diet. Follow the advice found here:

This is pretty much the Paleo diet. You also cut out dairy. Some are concerned with calcium, but evidently your body becomes much more alkaline and your calcium needs drop. Also, I need to get away from the lean cuts that I eat now,and look for more fatty meats for energy. I think before I go full tilt on this, I'm gonna still eat a cup of oatmeal in the morning, but all additional carbs will come from veggies. I'm gonna try to keep my total carbs around 100g a day, and see what happens.

Honestly.... I don't really stick to a prescribed diet. I just cut out the bad carbs and minimal exercise and the weight just melts off.

If you are going to eat carbs, the morning is the best time to do it.

I have your solution, but it really takes commitment.

Cut out one meal a day, and instead, suck 5 d!cks. Lots of protein for muscle, no carbs.

At least it would be more manly than talking about your zone diet while sipping your vodka soda.

I eat 3-4 bags of potato chips a week, and I am 6'0 and 170lbs.

Anecdotal evidence states that you need to add potato chips into your diet.
