Commissioner Decision: Dez Bryant for Mark Ingram

Recommended Posts

Just the fact that someone would be upset about a trade not being allowed is evidence alone that a trade is probably too lopsided for any league to allow it.

To use an analogy, if you trade away $10 and get $10 back, you are cool if it happens, and cool if it doesn't. It's when you are giving away $5 and getting back $10 that you'll be pissed if the trade doesn't go through.

The fact that someone was desperate enough for this trade to go through to biitch about it not happening on a message board just proves how lopsided the trade truly was.

If a trade is unbalanced, you have to veto. Otherwise it just becomes a race to see who can rip of the girl owner the quickest and the worst. And that's no fun for anybody.

There shouldn't be an unknowledgable owner in your league.

Any league that allows vetoes is a crapass league. Trades are vetoed because all the other owners hate to see teams improve themselves. It's all BS.

I don't know much about Mobb except that he makes solid points, and that me and him have over 15,000 posts combined. You have about 1/7 of that.

So I think we probably know what we are talking about.

I applaud you sir. I didn't get it when I was a noob. But I appreciate your veteran leadership.

Exactly right

Man the only thing this thread needs now is some reference to Joe Webb: Destroyer of Fantasy Football Forever and i predict it will reach 10 pages.

Again, if it's not collusion, then you should stay out of it. However, if they try to trade the same 2 players back later, then it's clearer and you might step in then.

Hi, I'm looking for a little guidance please.

I had trade go through in one of the leagues where I'm the commissioner and I'm getting flak from a couple of league members that I should veto it. I know there was no collusion so it's just a mater of value.

Dez Bryant for Mark Ingram.

Thoughts?

I tried offering P Harvin and Ingram for D bryant and the guy rejected it

That trade is pretty uneven. I think I'd be forced to veto as well.

Who is it lopsided towards? I can't even figure out which guy they think is getting the steal. Maybe the guy getting Dez? But he's hurt and there's a good chance John Kitna will be throwing to him for a good part of the season. :dunno:

Why won't you explain who the trade is lopsided for? You say it's so obvious but apparently you are the only one that knows why. Can you explain?

He won't explain it, because only time will tell who gets the better end of the deal. It could easily go either way.

Agreed. The denominations of the money doesn't matter either. If I trade away 10 1$ bills (10 mediocre players) for 1 10$ bill (a stud) it is ok. As long as the number of players directly equates with the monetary system being used by that league.

The one thing I haven't seen a response on that I'm dying to know is whether you can include injured players. What if it's a stud, but he's out for the season? Would he count as $1? Or is he more like $3.33? You could trade 3 studs that are out for the season for 1 stud that's healthy then?

 Basically the way it works in the NBA.

You can't trade Dirk Nowitzki for John Brockman straight up due to their monetary system differences. But if you add Larry Sanders, Drew Gooden, Ersan Ilyasova, Keyon Dooling, and Carlos Delfino, the the trade is allowable.

Non-alloweable trade

Allowable trade

This is just one example. There are others.

So what are the dollar values of Ingram and Dez in this instance? Who is the $5 and who is the $10?

The answer you're going to get is..."If you can't see who the $5 player is and who the $10 player is, I can't help you. It's fairly obvious."

Sure. Ask Voltaire if you can join the Geek Cult Classic dynasty league he set up.

It's really a simple question. Who does the trade favor? Just one word answer. Why won't you answer the question and enlighten us all.

Me too please. I've been looking for another league to join. Must be a Dynasty Auction league though. I don't play in newbie redraft/keeper leagues. Especially not ones with dumb trading rules. Dynasty Auction leagues are really the only fair league, as each player has a monetary value and each team has a salary cap.
