MCFadden to lose some gola line carries

Recommended Posts

Just worth noting. Possibly related to lingering shoulder issue and the fact the Bush can be very productive in the part of the game as well.

Might be a chance to trade McFadden for #1 value at RB and #2 at another position.

In watching the game last weekend, Michael Bush came in on most of the goalline packages. They have the Jets this weekend, but the schedule looks pretty favorable after that. As a McFadden owner, i'm not concerned.

He wasn't the goal line back anyways.

What are you worrying about?

Yes, I do believe this is relatively old news. McFadden is what you think he is.

Old school Raider fan here... Why are we having this conversation? Between 1999 and 2003 Zach Crockett had 233 rushing carries and scored 34 rushing touchdowns as the Oakland GL back. THIRTY FOUR. That's almost 1 TD for every 7 carries! This is what the Raiders do, and anybody with a clue should know it's buyer beware.

Having said that, the premiere RB is a critical piece of the Raider vertical offense. McFadden, if the dude can stay healthy, is as good an all around RB as they've had since Marcus Allen (Bo got hurt before Marcus left.) Garner was very good, but McFadden is more talented, IMO.

There's plenty of cheddar for McFadden even with Bush pulling a Crockett.

Wel I think that this was mentioned coming out of Oakland camp signifies a slight change in thought or strategy. I seem to recall it wasnt necessarily official that he would be losing goal line carries. It now seems that they will game plan to pull himinthose situations. Maybe only a 2-4 shift in td totals but worth noting I think.

Absolutely! What I thought McFadden was in college was an outstanding back with as much talent that has come through that school. And he's showing it in the NFL. I love McFadden and my play on words didn't mean I dislike him. Actually, he is being exactly what I thought he would be: outstanding. But I think we all knew he wasn't going to get every goal line carry.

Do you believe him to be as good a receiver as Marcus?

I don't mean to hijack the thread but the mention of Marcus Allen sparked some great fantasy memories. He belonged to me in 1984 and 1985 and I looked up his stats on Pro Football Reference:

1985: 1759 yds rushing, 11 touchdowns, 555 yards receiving, 3 td's. 67 receptions.

1984: 1168 yds rushing, 18 touchdowns, 758 yards receiving, 5 td's, 64 receptions.

He was fantasy gold.

Bush (And Cambell) was and is the goal line back.. Not exactly a new revelation. should not change anything. McFadden gets 20+ carries a game and a handfull of receptions.. as for Bush he has the issues. Cambell and the FB steal his GL carries.. they took 4 or 5 so far as I can count.

Oh no, absolutely not. And when it comes to blocking McFadden isn't even on the same planet. Marcus Allen was the best blocking halfback in the NFL west of Soldier Field. And he was probably a better passer than Jason Campbell as well... :headbanger:

As a Raider fan, with all of Marcus Allen's feats, the stat line I remember most is the 33 rushes for 133 yard beat down he threw on us Christmas Eve of 1994, as a Kansas City Chief, to knock the Los Angeles Raiders out of the playoffs.

I still remember the story of the beat writers screaming up towards Al Davis' luxury box:

"Way to go A**hole!!!"

I'm just surprised he hasn't been assassinated by a raiders fan
