The Dynasty Q&A thread

Recommended Posts

Fifth round just got weird. A tradeup for Britt. Ben Tate and David Wilson ahead of Bradshaw (and to a lesser degree, Reggie Bush)? Aaron Hernandez still on the board? I mean I can kinda get it, but suffice it to say I did not see those picks coming for at least another round.

This isn't exactly a dynasty league, but a keep-10 keeper league with 20 player rosters and no Defense is close enough. This is a ten team non-ppr league.

We just completed our 10 round rookie plus supplemental draft, and it went like this (I've bolded the rookie picks):

1.01 1. Phatino Heat Richardson, Trent CLE RB ®

1.02 2. Singing the Blues Griffin III, Robert WAS QB ®

1.03 3. Phatino Heat Blackmon, Justin JAC WR ®

1.04 4. Total Domination Martin, Doug TBB RB ®

1.05 5. TX Hippie Coalition Wells, Beanie ARI RB Damn, I missed out on Martin by one pick. I need RBs to produce this year, and Beanie is the top one in standard scoring.

1.06 6. Eggy's Booze Hounds Jackson, DeSean PHI WR

1.07 7. Crashdummies Luck, Andrew IND QB ®

1.08 8. Eggy's Booze Hounds Williams, Ryan ARI RB

Blackman went before luck? I don't care if the guys is stacked at qb and weak at wr, that is a terrible choice.

At that point his only QB in a 10 teamer was his keeper: Alex Smith - (he later picked up Matt Schaub, who I had cut from my team.) Ouch!

Instead of focusing on the picks of a late recruited rookie owner fill-in, tell me what I want to hear: That I am gonna kick Shutdown Corner's aka WhiteWonder's ass this year, or better yet, that I'm gonna win the whole thing.

Or you can suck up to Wonder and tell me that I (Tx Hippie Coalition) don't have a prayer!

And both of us are like a dog chasing the Bone. Do we have a chance in hell to catch him?

Here's our final rosters for those who don't have time to click on the link:

Bone Collector clearly has the best team in the league, and I don't think it's that close on PAPER. Brees/Foster/Rice/Megatron/A.Johnson/R.White/A.Peterson/Witten. Dez Bryant might be on his bench. :shocking: Good luck! But that is why you play the games. haha. Any team can be beat on any given week.

As far as your team versus White Wonder, I honestly think it is very close. I really like the trio of Nicks, Julio, and Thomas in non-PPR. But I like Forte a little less. I also think your RB2 is currently a weak spot. In non-PPR, Beanie Wells isn't bad though I guess. I have never liked Beanie. I'm guessing Antonio Brown or JStew would currently be your flex. I like A.Brown a lot in PPR, but he's still valuable regardless. V.Davis should be a top 5 TE in non-PPR.

White Wonder has better RB's in my opinion. Mathews/Lynch is a great combo. I'm not that high on Reggie Bush but he has Daniel Thomas as well. His WR's are solid in Harvin/Austin/S.Johnson. I actually like that combo better in PPR though, but still good in non-PPR. I'd give the WR edge to MFM. WW has Gronk though who can be a monster, and I feel more comfortable with in non-PPR due to his TD scoring ability. QB is probably a wash. A lot of people high on Matt Ryan. I'd probably have Romo ever so slightly ahead of him, but it's very close.

Final Verdict: I'm going to go with White Wonder by a very slim margin. Should be a good battle between you two all year in my opinion. Will likely come down to who's flier draft picks and later round guys pan out for them.

Yea, Wonder and and I have been chasing Bone for about 2 years now. I think we are slowly closing the gap. This was probably not a league we should have joined.

I also have the two of us in a virtual dead heat (along with a couple of other teams). WhiteWonder had an excellent draft. It seemed that in virtually every round the player I'd hoped for got taken right in front of me. And last year I had the great fortune of drafting both Leshoure and Ryan Williams (who I had to drop and got sniped in front of me this year).

Sh;t happens. :dunno:

12 team ppr. start 3 wr and a flex wr,rb or te.

3 rd rookie draft.

Earl Bennett and 2.2

or

Vincent Brown and 2.9

Definitely not a high profile trade, just trying to figure out what might be the better side.

I like Brown + 2.09 here. -IMO, we already know what Bennett is, a nice possession WR with very minimal upside. With Brown, there is at least a shot things could shake out nicely for him in SD... and this more than makes up for the move back to 2.09 from 2.02.

My crystal ball is just not that good, and I doubt that anyone would feel confident enough to give u an answer. My best advice is to go with your own gut.

My gut is gettin pretty big. :(

I just noticed there was a little point system for each post, similar to the "like" button on facebook. The difference is it is equipped with a dislike button also. Good. I also learned I can change the viewing "threshold" to only allow posts with so many positive reviews. I am going to start using this sweet ass system. The funny thing is I have always seen the red and green buttons but am just in such a hurry that I did not really stop and try to figure out what they were.

Edit

I just tried to hand out a positive vote for the first time ever and it said I reached my quota for the day. Why would you limit the amount of positive feedback via "positive vote button" Mr. Mike?

This time I need some help guys. Our Fat Bastards 5 round Supplemental draft is on Wednesday the 15th. Due to trades, I have the 1st 3 picks in the draft. I'm mainly looking to compete THIS year.

Here's my team and my options:

QB: Cutler, Dalton; developmental taxi: Tannehill

best available - Tebow

comment: While i really like Tebow for dynasty, he's not essential to my team.

RB: J Stewart, De Williams, Martin, Blount, P Thomas; developmental taxi: R Graham, U of Pitt

best available: K Smith, B Scott, Tolbert, Dwyer

comment: I'm thinking that Kevin Smith is a must pick-up because his upside is as an every week starter. Now that I've acquired Stewart, I've gotta think of Tolbert. I also like B Scott.

WR: Lloyd, Little, Crabtree, D Baldwin, M Williams; developmental taxi: Criner, Givens

best available: S Smith (StL), T Owens, Bess, L Jean, R Moss, Simpson.

comment: It is still my position of weakness, I'd like to hit a home run or at least a solid double to the fences here. Right now I'm thinking T.O or S Smith, but I could be persuaded differently.

TE: Finley, Cook

best available: Kellen Davis, Clark

comment: I'm not looking here at all

Best rookies available: B Rainey Balt RB, Benjamin Cle, WR, Brazill Und WR, C Rainey WR Pitt, R Wilson QB, Sea

my comments: I'm pretty solid with my developmental squad right now. Not looking in this direction.

So I'm thinking it is the top three between Kevin Smith, Tolbert, B Scott, Steve Smith, T.O, or possibly Jean, le Star.

What say you all?

I'd pass on Tebow... I believe Cutler's gonna do just fine this year.

I'm in the Kevin Smith sleeper bandwagon camp... as I have a feeling (sadly) that we may never see Jahvid step foot on the field again. My only concern with Smith is his own inability to stay healthy. But when healthy, in that offense, he's a 3 down back... and yes, I'm somewhat dismissing Leshoure at this point, admittedly.

Thought I saw a post about Jean slipping in the Texans depth chart recently, btw... worth a google'ing maybe.

I just traded A Bradshaw, D Wilson, and V Brown for J Stewart and Lloyd (and next years rookie 2nd rounder). This sets me up better at WR. I was going to take K Smith anyway, but now B Scott also comes into play as does Mike Tolbert. The trade is now edited into my line-up above.

I still am considering one WR who can hit me a home run.

More suggestions welcome, friends.

What kind of league is this - # teams / scoring / etc? Whats the word on BJGE's hands - is his pass receiving that bad, considering they always relied on other guys in NE? If so, Bernard Scott could get be borderline ppr gold, no? Ok, probably not gold, but close enough to fool the girlfriend...

It is a 12 team dynasty ppr. 216 players already rostered, so pickins are slim in the supplemental.

Things move fast in this league...that trade opened up a lot more options in the supplemental draft, for sure. Now I could go RB/RB/RB with my 1st 3 picks.

Picks to fill a roster at this point should mostly be about the upside and I think K. Smith embodies that. He should provide tempting trade bait at a minimum during the early season. I personally picked up S. Smith when Childs went down so I obviously think there is some upside there but I could easily end up cutting bait and I picked him up because I felt a need at WR. I'm not saying you should pick him up, but Russell Wilson looked really good last night. The Hawks rolled him out regularly and I could see how the throwing lanes will be there for him despite his size. I also have a bit less confidence in your 2 QBs over both the short and long term to do anything but "not lose for you" and I think that is the upside with them. I would be tempted to move one of the taxi WRs you have onto the regular roster and put Wilson on the taxi along with Tannehill with the hope that one will develop into an elite FF QB.

I figured out what may be an optimum strategy, but I'm not ready to unveil it yet. too many guys in the same league are following this thread, I'm sure.

But I just traded out of 5.03. Gave that pick up plus Givens, and 2nd round 2013 rookie for 5.07 and 6.02, to go with my 5.01 and 5.02. I have some guys in mind that should fall to those picks. Will let u know on Thursday. Thanks.

Wednesday night is probably my most fun draft of the year.....Our 5 round supplemental ppr dynasty draft. Each of the 12 teams has already rosterred approx 16 veterans, two rookies, and one college devy pick. Now we get to pick through the left-overs! Through trades, I have the 1st, 2nd, 7th, 14th and 23rd picks in this draft.

My team has no studs on it, just good players:

Cutler, Dalton, Tannehill

Martin, Blount, Stewart, De williams, P Thomas, Ray Graham RB U of Pitt

Lloyd, Little, Crabtree, M Williams, D Baldwin, Criner

Finley, Cook, HOU D

Picks 1 and 2 are no brainers: Kevin Smith and Bernard Scott somehow are available. After that it gets messy, but I have a plan. BTW, we can place 4 players on an inactive developmental taxi squad. Stay tuned and Thursday I will post the complete draft including my picks.

I like your Ray Graham pick, I remain very high on next years potential RB class.

Also like your Criner pick. Kid had a really bad drop the other night, but I like what he brings to the table.

I don't care for DHB. Moore and Ford just remind me too much if brittle track stars. Streeter seems very raw to me, and they have no TE's what so ever. I think Criner will be a great ppr kid, and a good safety valve for Palmer as an over the middle type guy.

I'll be interested to hear who your sleepers are.

Here's the draft so far:

5.01 49. The Mighty Pinksburg Orgasmics Smith, Kevin DET RB The 1st 2 picks were my no brainers

5.02 50. The Mighty Pinksburg Orgasmics Scott, Bernard CIN RB

5.03 51. HitNRun Smith, Steve STL WR

5.04 52. Cheesehead Simpson, Jerome MIN WR

5.05 53. Schmucks Rainey, Chris PIT RB ® He would have been a target for my 6.11 pick

5.06 54. Silly Rabbit Martin, Keshawn HOU WR ®

5.07 55. The Mighty Pinksburg Orgasmics Wilson, Russell SEA QB ® I knew Cheesehead wanted him too so i had to take him 1st - he goes right on my developmental squad along with Tannehill

5.08 56. ColourHaze Dwyer, Jonathan PIT RB

5.09 57. Schmucks Housler, Robert ARI TE

5.10 58. Duh Namastes Jean, Lestar HOU WR

5.11 59. Cheesehead Moss, Randy SFO WR

5.12 60. Cheesehead Smith, Alex SFO QB

6.01 61. Cheesehead Packers, Green Bay GBP Def

6.02 62. The Mighty Pinksburg Orgasmics Thompson, Taylor TEN TE ® As I also have Cook, Thompson goes on my developmental squad as well. We get 1.5 ppr for TE's and yes, he has a chance to be great.

6.03 63. Yeti Brethren Brown, Bryce PHI RB ®

6.04 64. Yeti Brethren Polk, Chris PHI RB ® Interesting he took these two guys with D Lewis still out there.

6.05 65. The Hype Machines Henderson, Devery NOS WR

6.06 66. Silly Rabbit Lions, Detroit DET Def

6.07 67. Duh Namastes Davis, Kellen CHI TE

6.08 68. ColourHaze Brazill, LaVon IND WR

6.09 69. The Mauve Avengers of Monroeville Bess, Davone MIA WR

6.10 70. The Mauve Avengers of Monroeville Weeden, Brandon CLE QB

6.11 71. The Mighty Pinksburg Orgasmics Hogan, Chris MIA WR

So that is the 1st day and I have only the 6.11 pick left. I'll add tomorrows draft results when it is over.

My team right now is

QB: Cutler, Dalton

RB: Martin, Blount, Stewart, De Williams, P Thomas, K Smith, B Scott

WR: Lloyd, Little, Crabtree, M Williams, D Baldwin, Criner

TE: Finley, Cook

Inactive Taxi Squad: Ray Graham (U of Pitt RB, Tannehill, R Wilson, T Thompson

My other targets were just taken at 6.07 and 6.08 so it has come down to:

T Owens WR SEA - I never thought I'd be considering him, but he could be very decent in Sea, maybe even have more upside than Bess.

D Bess WR MIA - kind of a "baseline" WR. 65-690-4 doesn't blow up my skirt too much either.

Chris Hogan WR MIA - If I had room for another guy on my taxi squad, I'd take him for sure. I still might. The guy they call "7-11" because 'he's always open' could be the surprise WR on the Dolphin roster. Great hands, great routes...6' 1" 220#, kind of a raw version of Jordy Nelson. Bess is the better choice for this year, but here's my upside sleeper.

With my squad, who would you take?

I think Bess is looking like a pretty decent bench player this year. Mia has zero WR depth (atleast no one who has proven they can play at the NFL level)

TO does have the highest upside though so I guess for a player I dont plan to have to use he would be my choice and hope you either get luckey or have a easy drop midseason if someone comes out of the woodwork on waivers..

As you can see, Mauve took Bess and it came down to either T.O. or Hogan. 38 yr old or 23 year old, both easy drops if they don't work out, so it was an easy choice for me. IMO after studying the 'Fins WRs, he's been by far the best WR in training camp, aqnd is the most likely to emerge despite the production of Wallace and Pruitt in the 1st pre-season game.

I would consider

Tolbert

I know you have the other 2 but we don't know how they will be used yet and this pick is kind of a "free look" that can be dropped shortly.

He might get alot more usage than people think. I have seen quotes about the organization considering him Shockey's replacement which

could be interpreted as him being a physical target in the passing game GL is also a strong possibility. Of course if you can

stomach holding him a full year the potential split of the backfield looms once again.

Cameron Jordan

Nate Burleson

Hogan

Clay I know they are on him but they also like him

TO

TY Hilton

TJ Graham

I guess it really depends whether what you are looking for out of this pick. Someone you can use now or someone who could hit big later.

I do have another "free look" kind of guy who is completely off evryone's radar, it's probably not worth your time because I don't think you would pick him but if you want the name you can PM me.

I'll probably pm you because i have one compensatory pick at the end of the draft, and I'm curious. Yes I went with Chris (Seven-Eleven) Hogan.

Edit: I may have trusted my private tweet with Ben Volin (Palm Beach Post beat writer) and Hard Knocks episode 2 for my enthusiasm for Hogan. I have a tiny twinge of buyers remorse on this one. but when you already have rosterred your 23rd player, how much of a mistake can u really make. Most guys were taking their kickers.

I like your team. How many points do qb get per td? I think you have a current and future stud at qb which is important. Your rb are solid, not great, but i believe you will find them to be more than suitable. You wr is a position of weakness but it is still solid. I think you could have done better with the backend of your wr core though for the future. I do not see any future studs past your first 3. I do not like crabtree at all and believe he is a waste of a roster spot. Same goes with keyshawn martin.

Your te is ab obvious stud and should really put your team over the top, especially in ppr. I also like housler as a potential future stud at te. I would be tempted to get rid of celek for maybe another potential stud at te but if the qb position in phi can become better at passing he could end up being more valuable.

Overall i think you did your homework and for the most part maximized each roster spot on your team.

I too just added cadet to my dynasty roster. I do not expect much this year and i am not sure about his future. He will either be the future runner for the saints or be released and have to find another home. I hope he gets a real chance sonewhere to prove he can be a dependable rb.

For a 12 team dynasty. I think your pretty solid all the way around.

I wouldn't really be looking to make a big splash trade wise. Unless their is a player you have a huge man crush on, or just get an incredible offer. I really wouldn't break up your team.

I think your solid to compete now. You've got decent depth, plus quality youth to stay competative.

I would just stay on top of your waiver wire (however your league does it). Just incase something good comes up. And continue to do your homework for your rookie drafts.

If this is a ppr league. I'll disagree with you. (If not, I'll agree with you.)

For ppr. I think Bess is a quality reciever, and Brown could be a future ppr machine in S.D.

These 2 are decent depth, when you have the option to start 4 wr's.

Your RB's and WR's aren't very exciting, but you have a lot of solid players there. The depth and consistency you have a those positions should be a strength. Then obviously you are elite at QB and TE. Nice team.

Yeah I look to start

Lynch, Bush, maybe Jennings or Stewart

S Smith (if not healthy T Smith), Maclin, Brown

Now that we've had a full camp, and 3 preseason games. Does anyone have any sleepers your watching closely for large/deep rostered leagues?

Rod Streater has definitely caught my eye. I'm also going to be looking at several running backs this last game.

Bryce Brown

Bobby Rainey

Mike Smith

Daryl Richardson

I would put Criner over Streeter. Keiland Williams.
