Worst to first. Who will it be?

Recommended Posts

Which team will go from worst to first this year. I think a darkhorse could possibly be the Bucs or the Chiefs. Thoughts?

I like the bucs this year. I also think CAR will win more games then they did last year. One thing I'm pretty certain on is it won't be the colts.

AFC -- East -- is basically a Patriot slam dunk with their schedule

North -- Is more and more looking like Baltimore will take it

South -- Division sucks but Houston is really good - they will walk an win the south.

West - WIDE open - any team can win -- only the Bronco's can dominate IF Manning is 100%

NFC - East - WIDE OPEN - any team but maybe Washington can win it

North - Green Bay has a bead on this division but with their D so average Chicago and Detroit got a shot

South - W/o Payton the Falcons I think are now the favorites here but Nola if they play how they can are right there ........... TB or Carolina people wern't serious I hope.

West - Maybe Seattle puts up a fight but it's tough to see another team other than SF here.

No one does it but chiefs are closest. Allowed the fewest points last year despite losing their best defensive player; upgraded their RBS: Charles back from injury and addition of Hillis. I peronally think they would have been the team to accomplish this if Manning didn't go to the Broncos.

Buc's have improved but they'll finish behind the Falcons and Saints.

Vikes won't even be close and will still remain last in their division.

Browns/Rams/Skins will be last again as well.

Jags will replace Indy at the bottom.

Pats will run away in AFC East and the rest of the division could be up for grabs.

Made me wonder how many times this has happened in recent history...

2001 - NE, CHI

2002 - none (this is the year NFL went from 3 divisions to 4 per conference)

2003 - KC (tied in 2002 for last), CAR

2004 - SD (tied in 2003 for last), ATL

2005 - NYG, CHI, TB (tied for first)

2006 - NO

2007 - CLE (tied for first), TB

2008 - MIA (tied for first)

2009 - NO

2010 - KC, STL (tied for first... at 7-9, ugh!)

2011 - HOU (tied in 2010 for last), DEN (tied for first)

There you have it. At least 1 a year since 2003 and averaging almost 2 a year since 2003.

Rams and Chiefs have the best shot, I think. They're in divisions without a lot of separation between the teams. The 49ers have an elite defense, but that sludgy offense could knock them down to 8-9 wins this year.

The Chiefs are the best looking team on paper to have such a lousy record last year. Add in the addition of Poe and a healthy Safety and they sure do look like a stellar defense. Offensively, they've improved the line, added a power back in Hillis and Baldwin is looking like a legit threat opposite Bowe (whenever he shows up....). A healthy QB doesn't hurt either. I think they could win that division and even compete against some of the better AFC teams. One issue they have that I don't think has changed is their lack of speed at WR. Breaston isn't fast and Baldwin is a second year guy who can get deep, but it's due to his moves more than his speed. Bowe, while having 5 or so great fantasy performances each season, is slow. It would be an interesting foot race between Bowe and Romeo Crennel. I give Crennel the edge because his name is Romeo.

We know it won't be the Browns or the Jaguars. Gabbert can't throw, so until he's gone, I don't give them much of a chance.

Does anyone else wonder how Manning will do against the 3-4 defenses of the Chiefs and Chargers? He has historically struggled against the 3-4 and both of these teams are better defensively this season.
