RoarRestored 1 Posted October 10, 2012 I traded Ridley this morning for Demaryius Thomas (after trying for Julio Jones). Like many Ridley owners, I've been a little squeamish about the Bolden, Woodhead and Vereen nonsense. I'm in a 12-man league and my remaining RBs are DMC, Bradshaw and Mendy. Fair deal? GobbleDog 822 Posted October 10, 2012 Like you, I don't expect Ridley to continue his stats. I think you sold at the right time and for the right price. Nice trade.
GreenTD 56 Posted October 10, 2012 Yeah, not sure what Zac is seeing I like that trade for you. As a Ridley owner, if I had the RB depth that you do, I'd trade him as well. Unfortunately my RB depth is shaky with Charles/Ridley/Leshoure/Carolina duo of Stewart & Williams. Don't want to have to start JStew & DWilly unless one of the previous RB's are out on a bye/injury. Yardage 1 Posted October 10, 2012 Ridley owner here. Was just offered Cam and Doug Martin for Ridley. I'm still thinking it over, but I think I'm going to decline even though my QBs are Dalton and Flacco.
uwilose123 2 Posted October 10, 2012 I own Ridley with Forte, Richardson, and Chris Johnson (acquired for small potatoes two weeks ago). I got offered Gronk for Ridley straight up with Finley and Celek as my TE's. Considering it...

Jarvis Basnight 119 Posted October 10, 2012 It's a fair deal. I wonder what you could've gotten for Bradshaw. Maybe Ridley will lose carries, maybe he won't. We don't know that for sure yet. I'm just not a huge believer in Bradshaw or Mendenhall so I guess it doesn't blow me away.
RaiderHaters Revenge 3,642 Posted October 10, 2012 I was able to trade Ridley and SJax for Mccoy and Hernandez this week I have Morris and Lynch in a nonppr so 1 of those guys was bench fodder anyways, so now Mccoy is my flex over Ridley Hernandez is my backup now to Graham
thegame 8 Posted October 10, 2012 Traded away Ridley and James Jones for Ryan Mayhews and RG3. I have Rodgers but I like the insurance.
chroniciguana 13 Posted October 10, 2012 Maybe Ridley will lose carries, maybe he won't. We ought to change Ridley's first name to "Maybe." He's third in scoring among RBs, and 25 percent of his owners are afraid to start the guy! He's ahead of Ray Rice in points, and Rice is being started in something like 99.9 percent of all leagues. Perhaps "WTF?" works even better. Thinking of trading "WTF?" for a backup kicker so I can dump this headache on someone else.

I made the trade because my WRs are weak. Mike Wallace, Malcolm Floyd, Jeremy Maclin and Kenny Britt.

Panik 0 Posted October 10, 2012 I've read alot of these Ridley posts and you have me worried now. I have Morris and Rice for RB and use Ridley as a flex. Should I shop him? I have Bowe and Marshall as my WRs. The R. Wayne owner needs a RB desperatly and if I offered I bet he would jump.. Im just so torn. I love his production so far and count on those points but all these the sky is falling posts worry me.

bzengler 0 Posted October 10, 2012 I traded Ridley and Hixon for DMC and Austin. With NE you never know what the gameplan will call for, whether it will be Woodhead, or Bolden, or now perhaps Vereen. With Belichik he always thinks he is so much smarter than everyone else. Ridley has talent, and has looked very good, but the uncertainty with the Patriots scheme, and if he god forbids has one more fumble, he could see himself in the doghouse. Not the DMC has been impressive, but he is the unquestioned #1 in Oakland. He has potential to put up some huge numbers, but I decided to take the sure thing, not gonna lose his job because his coach is a genius(unless he gets focking injured again). tldr; Belichik scares the hell out of me, and I pulled the plug while the value was high. RBs get guaranteed touches while WR only get targets, thus RBs usually more consistent week to week (at least the good ones). My league does that so I draft RBs early and often. That said, I don't (yet) consider Ridley one of the "good ones." He gets no receptions, so all his points are pure rushing yardage and TDs, which can be inconsistent for any RB, and particularly one in Belichick's weird rotation. Ridley is a good bye-week/injury replacement, but I'd be worried if he was my full-time flex starter. So your decision is Ridley full-time flex vs R Wayne full-time flex... ugh. Tough call. I spose I'd rather have Wayne, but it's close. In leagues with no RB flex that ONLY start 2 RBs and must start 3 WRs, trading unneeded Ridley for a good WR makes the most sense. Joey Gladstone 33 Posted October 10, 2012 I can't get more out of him then a good WR and I don't need WR's. I'm holding and hoping he holds onto the ball. Expectations are low this week in Seattle. Im expecting NE to game plan like they did a few weeks ago against Baltimore. He still gets the start over Fred Jackson, Ballard, William Powell and Chris Johnson

bzengler 0 Posted October 10, 2012 All gonna be sorry ....Ridley is the real deal! My fear was never Ridley's ability. He looks good! It is his genius coach and McDummy who scare me. If he was on any other team (except Washington of course), it would take a whole lot for me to have gotten rid of him.

seadog54 20 Posted October 10, 2012 That guy may have done you a favor. What's so special about AJ? Since week 1 he hasn't gone over 6 targets per game. Well, it's because we start 2 RBs and I have Arian Foster, Jamaal Charles, Alfred Morris, and Ridley. We start 3 WRs and I'm trying to buy low on AJ.

knuckleballah22 0 Posted October 10, 2012 Top 5 RBs for me are: Adrian Peterson Arian Foster Jamaal Charles Shady McCoy Ray Rice Ridley might be top 5 in most stat categories but i think it would be ridiculous to put him anywhere close to top 5 status because aside from Foster none of those guys play in a passing game that puts the fear of god into defenses. I think Ridley has the skill set to join that group but he has no chance until he improves his ball security and also he needs to assert himself as a guy that can grind it out against defenses that stack the box against him
knuckleballah22 0 Posted October 10, 2012 Not that anyone in this thread said Ridley was a top 5 back but someone said he was in another thread yesterday and i know a lot of guys are starting to overvalue him
Joey Gladstone 33 Posted October 10, 2012 In a way he could also be getting undervalued. Such a unique situation it's hard to tell at this point.

deefree93 0 Posted October 10, 2012 That said, I don't (yet) consider Ridley one of the "good ones." He gets no receptions, so all his points are pure rushing yardage and TD's, which can be inconsistent for any RB, and particularly one in Belichick's weird rotation. Ridley is a good bye-week/injury replacement, but I'd be worried if he was my full-time flex starter. I understand that he has some risk involved, but this I don't get at all. I was lucky to get Ridley as my RB3 in a 12 teamer and have started him at my flex Full-time so far. He has been killing it with 3 (of 5) games of 20 points and another game with 9.In fact his dominance at my flex position over the opponents has been winning me games. Also, as far as his workload goes, he has 4 (of 5) games with over 20 total touches (which will lead to consistent production in an explosive offense, regardless of whether they are catches or not). Yes, some of his backups are getting touches, but Ridley is still getting his. The only real risk I see is that he will lose his job due to fumbles, but I am not buying it yet. Owners need to just ignore the noise, sit back, and enjoy the production.
FFdemon 0 Posted October 10, 2012 I can't trade this guy to save my life. Tried Ridley + sjax for matthews. Same deal for Richardson. Tried for AP straight up. Just now tried Julio + Ridley for Cruz + dmac. Denied. then tried Ridley + Hernandez for Wallace+ dmac or demarco to same owner. No one biting. Guess I'm rolling with Ridley vs sea his week

So you're saying that Ridley isn't even a top 30 or top 36 back (to start at the flex every week)? Absolutely nuts. Ridley is tied for 3rd in RB points with Ray Rice thru Week 5 . He isn't a Top 5 back due to the amount of touches he could lose to Woodhead etc., but I have no issue calling him at least a top end RB2. You'd have to be pretty stacked at RB not to be starting this guy every week.
