Agame 2 Posted November 18, 2012 Chargers are going to have a lot of rushes in this game. They're only going to go pass-heavy if they fall behind by 2 scores or more. They know that Denver D has a fierce pass rush, they know that they have a weakened Left Tackle with Jared Gaither out, and Coach Turner should know to be afraid of Philip Rivers turning the ball over. Gameplan: Rush the ball and screen passes and quick slants. Mathews or Battle is gonna ram the ball up the gut on the Broncos. And ram it some more. If Mathews' neck is fine, he'll have 20+ touches. This is a must-win game. Lose, and Norv is all but gone. Maybe even before Christmas. Lots of Mathews, and lots of Gates in this game. Turner does not want Rivers to lose the game, and thus the season with yet another one of his God-awful turnovers. I'm thnking of going with him
WR Guru 31 Posted November 18, 2012 My only scenario for Mathews having a big game today is if he gets most of the snaps in passing situations, like he did last week, and catches 7 or 8 passes. I expect the Chargers to get blown out in this game by a red hot Denver team playing at home and that will limit Mathews' rushing opportunities. Wouldn't be surprised if he has fewer than 15 carriers today.
boilerddd 62 Posted November 18, 2012 I agree 100% with you astute analysis of coaching strategy and what should happen. One small glitches however. Norv Turner still coaching. I have ZERO faith in Mathews health or Norv. Fool me once.......fool me 8 times.... no thanks.
chiz3 1 Posted November 18, 2012 NOOOOO can only get burned so many times with RM and ahole Norv! This is a team with a lame duck coach & the players have zero faith or passion right now!!
GobbleDog 1,018 Posted November 18, 2012 I have ZERO faith in Mathews health or Norv. Fool me once.......fool me 8 times.... no thanks. Agreed. Mathews is having a bad year because Turner limits his plays. The neck injury only makes the situation worse. Mathews does get consistent receptions (2 or more in every game). But the other stats are killers.. 1 TD all season and only 2 games with 20+ carries. He'll probably finish with 10+- fantasy points like always. But very little chance for a big game. lickin_starfish 2,027 Posted November 18, 2012 Screw Ryan Matthews and Norv Turner. I'm starting Benjarvis instead.

PATSSOX 22 Posted November 18, 2012 I will one up you. If he is active, I am playing him. If not, I am playing Ronnie Brown. Reports: Ryan Mathews slated to start Sunday According to both CBS' Jason La Canfora and ESPN's Adam Schefter, Ryan Mathews (neck) is expected to start Sunday's game against the Broncos. La Canfora adds that Mathews will be the Chargers' "bellcow." Schefter's similar report indicated Mathews is no longer in any danger of missing the game. It's a sign that he's feeling no stiffness in his neck and the medical staff has signed off completely. Remember that last week against the Bucs, Mathews finally got the majority of two-minute and red-zone snaps on his way to 22 touches. We'd expect a similar number of chances this week, leaving him as a strong RB2 option. Source: Jamey Eisenberg on Twitter Nov 18 - 11:28 AM
