IGotWorms 4,063 Posted July 6, 2013 In regards to Harvin, that was mostly because the guy was always injured. In 2011 he just needed 33 more yards to crack 1k, which he probably would have gotten in the 2 games he missed (and probably he left early a few others). Plunger will probably at least be able to throw a little better this year with everyone and their mother trying (and failing) to stop AP. Wasn't everyone trying to stop AP last year? And yet Ponder still sucked. Dude just doesn't quite have an NFL-caliber arm.
FeelingMN 273 Posted July 6, 2013 Wasn't everyone trying to stop AP last year? And yet Ponder still sucked. Dude just doesn't quite have an NFL-caliber arm. AD has had to play with Tavaris Jackson, Christian Ponder, Joe Webb....under center. The defensive gameplan has always been to stop AD. That's not going to change in 2013. Ponder's arm isn't even that bad. His decision making just isn't good. He plays scared a lot of the time....and some of that is by design as I don't think the coaching staff wants Ponder making plays if he doesn't have to. Clearly they want him to manage the game....avoid turnovers, take a few shots down the field to keep defenses honest, and hand off to AD. I know there's a stat out there for yards in the air to measure how far QBs are chucking it downfield. I'm willing to guess Ponder is near the bottom of that stat. For Jennings to put up nice numbers this year, he's gonna have to take a 6 yard pass and turn it into a 20 yard gain. Dunno what his YAC is in his career, but for him to post solid stats, it'll have to be pretty decent this year for him to have any upside.
The Moz 72 Posted July 6, 2013 Jennings is very underated IMO. He sucked last year because he was hurt all season Even when Ponder has sucked Harvin has always been at least a wr 2 when he is healthy. Jennings IMO might not be the YAC guy Harvin is but is pretty good at it and is the better pure WR in regards to routes and hands. I would think a 75 1100 8 season is very much in the realm of possibility
Frozenbeernuts 2,427 Posted July 6, 2013 When jennings was younger he seemed very hard to take down. He was YACing it up seemingly every game. I dont remember thinking that the past two years.
5Year1 23 Posted July 6, 2013 I'm very leery here given his injuries the last 2 years and Ponder as his QB. I would draft him at best as my #4 WR,if there was no one better, playing the other three and sitting him on the bench with a wait and see attitude starting the season.
