parrot 789 Posted October 21, 2013 I never said otherwise, parrot, regarding the two rules. And I won't contend that there would a number of people all over it if the Pats' had benefited from this one. But stop pretending that the Pats' fans would have taken the high road in that situation. They would NOT have, and you know I'M right. Your comment was defensive, and really looked ridiculous as a defense. The accusation was . . . hypocritical. If you would prefer specious and inane, you could use those instead. And you probably need to drop the "idiot" moniker that you so freely dole out. The Tuck Rule Game was historic, and will be talked about forever. Learn to deal with it, or you will come off looking the child. The Immaculate Reception is a lot older, and it's still talked about, and you can still find people who believe that the Raiders got jobbed there, too. Trust me, I know. I never claimed Pats fans would be above anything, so I don't know where you are getting that. Pats fans rarely take the high-road on anything. Maybe you noticed that my statement was a response to the statement "it does to Pats fans ". The implication there is that this is something unique to Pats fans. It's not. And if it had gone the other way it certainly would have mattered to a whole lot of other people. Which is all I was saying. You agree with me there so I don't even know what it is you're arguing with, other than the stuff that I never said in the first place. And if you want to talk childish, the whole "Oh the Patriots get every call and every bounce " is about as childish as it gets, considering there's not one bit of objective support for such an idea, and several glaring historical occurrences that show it to be patently false. See 'Catch, Helmet' or 'Drop, Welker' or 'Injury, Gronkowski'. Yes, they caught one notable break due to an arcane rule 12 years ago. You should follow your own advice and just learn to "deal with it."

JTB 52 Posted October 21, 2013 I can't fathom that he's that stupid. What was his kicker's career long? It was darn well under 56 yards IIRC. Regardless that is a low percentage field goal for anyone and the risk is you give Brady the ball back with optimum field position on the 40 yard line. Are you telling me Rex is really that dumb? What he is telling you is what many have been saying all along. You get your panties in a twist before ALL the facts are presented. Once the dust settles you are eating crow by the ladle full. IGotWorms 4,060 Posted October 22, 2013 Jets had done the same thing just a few minutes earlier: The Patriots didnt lose the game solely because of the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Chris Jones in overtime. First and foremost, credit should go to the Jets for making the plays when it counts. But specific to the penalty, if umpire Tony Michalek is going to make that call on Jones, its hard to imagine why he wouldnt have flagged the Jets for the same thing on Stephen Gostkowski's game-tying 44-yard field goal with 19 seconds left. Quinton Coples lined up in the same spot as Jones, looped to his right like Jones, and jammed his right arm into the back of a teammate, hurling him into the formation (the teammate flips over snapper Danny Aiken). While Coples action was a bit more subtle, the enforcement of the never-called-before rule was too inconsistent from this view, especially at such a critical time in the game.
