Only 74,000 jobs added in December

Recommended Posts

Economists expected 178k and the result was 113k? That's 36% off. If they worked in the private sector they'd be fired.

Most of them do, jerry. These are private sector folk trying to predict what the official government number will be

Jobs were going down until Nov 2010, then startd to go up. What happened that month?

Oh yeah, America voted to put the Reps in charge of the House.

Thank you John Beohner for turning around Obama's horrible jobs record. :first:

I just tried to fact check and got different numbers on every site I visited. For sake of argument, I'll use your figures.

3.5 million created under Obama in five years.

1.1 million created during Bush's eight years.

Next.

I don't know if a Meat Head can understand this but the type of job created is critical. We lost a lot of good jobs and replaced them with service and part time jobs. And who cares what Bush did, when did he become the gold standard.

He's sure as fock not the gold standard. But those of us who don't hate our country like to look for positives. I think the fact that we've added so many jobs over the last five years, compared to the eight before that, is a pretty good trend. :dunno:

I think the best example of hating the country is not agreeing with most of the important issues a candidate represents but voting for him anyway, only because it feels like the cool thing to do.

 You think it was the cool thing to do in 2012? Maybe in 2008. Bush made it cool. But in 2012? I think you're sniffing too much PVC cement.

I have never found a candidate who agrees with me on every topic. It's nearly impossible since my views are half conservative and half liberal. A candidate who was as down-the-middle as me would never win his own party's election. So I'm quite used to voting for candidates who disagree with my views on many issues.

1.1 million created IN EIGHT YEARS. Holy crap. Jimmy Carter laughs at Bush. And you wonder why the Republicans can't get a President elected anymore.

Romney is fairly centrist, but he had to make it through the primaries. Anyone could see that, if they cared to look.

To me, considering what I considered one of the country's biggest problems, Romney was too much of a Fat Cat and would have taken care of his billionaire buddies and their interests. His tendency to play games with money to avoid paying taxes on all of his earnings just wouldn't allow me to vote for him under these economic conditions. The Fat Cats were the only group who were thriving. They didn't need any more help. Maybe during a different election in different economic times, that would have fallen further down my list of priorities. But not in 2012.

Nah, lots of people in the private sector are right less that 36% of the time: Stockbrokers, weathermen, baseball batters, ...............surgeons  .

Sorry but you drank the koolaid on that. Did the MA fat cats thrive under him, at the expense of the little people? Also everyone pays as little as they can on taxes -- Romney, Buffet, Obama, doesn't matter.

It seemed to be everyone's biggest concern. Why I'd vote for Obama when a lot of my beliefs lean conservative. You were the third or fourth person who asked or commented about it. And I told you. As someone in the same camp as RP and Drobeski, I didn't expect you to agree with me. It was just my reasoning.

It was after the primaries when he suggested that 47% of Americans were lazy worthless focks who he couldn't do anything for :dunno:

He was a terrible candidate under the conditions this country was/is in. A rich snob who looked for ways to avoid paying taxes and looked down on everyone who wasn't born with a silver spoon in his mouth. That's why it was a landslide.

That was an open mic sorta comment to a donor at a fundraiser. I ask again, did his tenure in MA support that?

He didn't say he "couldn't do anything for them". He said he couldn't do anything to get their vote.

Nice talking point lies though.

I really don't care where he said it--when you voice unqualified contempt for nearly 150,000,000 people in the country you want to lead, I'd say that should put you out of the running. :dunno:

So you think more than 47% of the country is totally worthless?

And you wonder why guys you support can't win an election??

As RP reminded me, he was talking about the number of people who don't pay taxes. You made the inferences you wanted to make.

Why would the Republicans want to be reminded of the ass whooping Romney took? It's like Denver fans wanting to talk about the Super Bowl.

What?

There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what These are people who pay no income tax..."[M]y job is is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."

I'm not the one doing the spinning here

If he ran on his Massachusetts record then I may have supported him but he kind of distanced himself from his Massachusetts policies/opinions. So, what do you vote on? His record or what he says? Obviously he had to lean further to the right to win the primaries and by doing so he was going to alienate voters from the center, I honestly don't think Romney would have done things much differently than Obama is doing in his second term.
