RLLD 4,283 Posted July 9, 2015 Do all the black guys from Latin countries count? Cause then MLB would have the most by far I think the answer is no, didn't Tori Hunter call them "posers"?
Djgb13 2,339 Posted July 9, 2015 Agree on basketball, easy to get a ball, find a place to play, easy access. Football, is bloody expensive though, and a huge consumer of time too. Baseball is also easy on the wallet, the notion continues to be trotted out that AA's don't play because they are priced out, and this is false but an easy excuse. Meanwhile, the uber-wealthy (scarcasm) latino's continue to rely on their extravagant wealthy to make inroads..... its an easy way to pretend that AA's are being locked out, but the reality is that baseball is boring and overall participation is not what it used to be. Hockey....you need cash to play for sure Football is expensive for the team. Not for the player. All pads, cleats, jerseys, ect are provided for the players. Baseball they have a few bats but most kids have their own. They also need their own cleats as well as glove. This can easily exceed $500 dollars and a lot of parents won't pay that. That's just the start. NHL is expensive too. Basketball and football not so much since everything is provided.

I think you understate this a bit, it's pretty expensive to play on travel teams, and to get access to fields and practice facilities that aren't moon craters, which is how you get anywhere in baseball. It is VERY expensive to pay the league fee for football, those pads etc are not "free" they do get paid for. If you compare the costs you find that football is insanely expensive, only hockey costs more.

Travel teams do tend to be expensive, but baseball is not completely out of reach. Having coached travel teams in multiple sports I can assure you that access is there, and we have also waived the fee for good players to ensure they play for the team. There are plenty of ways for kids to play baseball, cheaply, this notion that its not a game for the rich is way overblown. Hockey is probably the worst, followed by football, then lacrosse, then basketball and THEN baseball in terms of costs....

But it's geared more towards a higher social and financial class than the others are

wiffleball 4,797 Posted July 9, 2015 MLB is filled with entitled f****** boat people who have for brains and who would be harvesting the corn out of their mothers s*** back in their homeland if it weren't for professional baseball.
