What's an interesting local initiative in your state?

Recommended Posts

Apparently, the guy running for governor here he's gay. But he absolutely did not run on being gay. Or any gay initiatives. Or anything gay at all. In fact, I just found out the other day.

I like that. Plus, the other guys a doouchenozzle.

I didn't know he was gay either until I read the headline this morning. Props to him for not making it an issue.

Well no more greyhound racing in FL, that sucks.

What the hell are they going to do with greyhound dogs now? Who wants one of those? They look like an anorexic horse.

The one in Florida caught my eye. They repealed the law preventing convicted felons from voting. Since it takes 60% of the vote to pass, it was a bit surprising. What was really surprising is that they said that 9% of the voting age public in Florida is a convicted felon. :o

Looks like that state will be blue moving forward.

That is such a Democrat move. And, while some people will ring their hands and scream to the heavens about it, what percentage of felons do you think you're actually going to give a enough to register to vote? Hell, a big chunk of them don't even want to list their correct address for their parole.

It's a bullshit move with no real overall impact.

I know, it sucks. How about legislation forcing them to take better care of the dogs? Typical government response. They were okay with them ending up going to a shelter where they are euthanized after 2 weeks but God forbid People BET on them!

Amendment 1: Failed: would have raised homestead property tax exemption

Amendment 2: Passed: puts cap on homestead property tax assessments

Amendment 3: Passed: gives voters rights regarding new casinos

Amendment 4: Passed: restores voting rights to former felons

Amendment 5: Passed: requires two-thirds vote to raise taxes

Amendment 6: Passed: bundle on judge ages, victims' rights, court deference

Amendment 7: Passed: makes changes to Constitution Revision Commission

Amendment 9: Passed: changes regarding clean water and clean air

Amendment 10: Passed: requires certain government regulatory changes

Amendment 11: Passed: cleans language in Florida Constitution

Amendment 12: Passed: expands ethics rules for public officials

Amendment 13: Passed: ends commercial dog racing

The two big ones are no more commercial dog racing, but the one I really don't like that passed is felons having their voting rights restored.

Check this out Bert;

https://oilprice.com/Energy/Oil-Prices/Permian-Oil-Reserves-Are-Grossly-Exaggerated.html

Permian oil reserves grossly exaggerated.

Lots of interesting stats in there.

How to know something was up when Chevron totally bailed on its much ballyhooed third Tower Mega campus downtown.

You know that reserve estimates are all over the place for every oil field in the world. The stats are nice just like the ones RLLD trotted out to show we were are peak oil in 2008. In any case the Permian Reserves had little to do with the new tower not going up.

In July 2013 when the tower was announced oil was about $110 a barrel. A year and a half late it has 60. That in a huge hit to a massive E&P company like Chevron. The Permian was rounding error by comparison.

After the governor did Colorado double down on focking one of its biggest tax revenue generating industries?

Btw- Here's your answer!

Shares of oil and gas companies with operations in Colorado jumped on Wednesday.

Voters rejected a ballot proposal that would have placed tough restrictions on drilling in the Centennial State.

Bonanza Creek Energy, Extraction Oil and Gas and PDC Energy are posting strong stock price gains.

Yeah I had an email from our government affairs folks waiting for me this morning. Another example of people on both sides not willing to compromise, IMO.
