BiffTannen 651 Posted July 1, 2019 They should have sent National League teams. Even foreigners hate the designated hitter.

BiffTannen 651 Posted July 1, 2019 It's dumb when we send our sports teams to other countries to play. I still want the Blue Jays and Raptors kicked out or forced to relocate to the USA. Leave the playing on foreign soil to olympic and soccer phags.

jerryskids 5,215 Posted July 1, 2019 I said to my wife: two baseball teams went to London and a football game broke out. I presume the idea is to get them to like it. I thought about it watching the highlights yesterday: baseball is one of those sports that imitates combat in a way. If you see a large man hurl a cannonball 95 mph, and a Gregor Clegane sized guy like Aaron Judge swing a club with bad intentions and hit it back over the castle wall 400+ feet away... you might not quite get the game, but there is a visceral "oh my" factor which most humans can appreciate. There was a thought it was going to be high scoring beforehand. Bad pitching, turf, and the heat. Not surprising.
TimmySmith 2,782 Posted July 1, 2019 2 games in 9 days would be Cricket. 9 hours didn't give the English time to get a good buzz.

List A matches last for six hours or more and twenty20 and 100-ball matches lasting just a few hours.
