The White House and the Trump campaign on Sunday dismissed a secretly recorded tape in which Trump’s sister Maryanne Trump Barry said the president has “no principles” and “you can’t trust him.”

Mary Trump, the president’s niece, surreptitiously taped the 15 hours of face-to-face conversations with Barry in 2018 and 2019. She provided The Washington Post with previously unreleased transcripts and audio excerpts.

We've all heard remarks to this effect describing Donald Trump ever since that staged escalator ride to launch his run for president in June 2015. But this time these words aren't coming from Democrats or the so-called "liberal media." Rather these are the words of Trump's own sister, Maryanne Trump Barry, a former federal appellate judge, told in confidence to her niece Mary Trump in 2018 and 2019.

I think most people understand that family relations can be weird.   Particularly when there is money involved.     I don't think they put too much stock in someone having a PO'd relative who says one of their siblings/cousins/parents/etc  is a POS.   

Most people who know me would tell you that I'm honest, hard working, make contributions to my community, good friend, etc.    I have 2 sisters.    One of my sisters would back that up 100%.    The other?    She would tell you that I am the most evil, vile person to ever walk the face of the earth.   If you put a microphone in front of her and said "tell me about your brother",  she'd have no problem trashing me for the whole world to see.    She'd actually relish the opportunity.  

Family relations cause you to have to make tough decisions and to say "No" sometimes.    I haven't seen too many families where everyone is completely in sync.   And if, as was my case, siblings have to step in a keep another sibling from abusing and looting their parents - it's never "that was probably the right decision".   It's always emotion and that the other siblings have an "agenda".    I can't tell you how many times I have heard my sister say "you are only doing this for yourself" (i.e "Donald is out for Donald, period").     Ironically, I'd love nothing more that to tap out of her life 100% and have nothing to do with her.    But since we share the same parents and I keep being forced to have to protect them from her - not an option.
