Wall Street Journal: Schools Are Ditching Homework And Deadlines In Favor Of ‘Equitable Grading’

From that point, yes, it will meet their goal.  I've always maintained that the only stance the Democrat party is committed to, is being for "the victim".  With that being the case, there needs to be victims.  If there aren't any, they need to create them.  They've been able to successfully accomplish their goals because there are too many gullible people in this country.

Democrats don't know what the word 'vitim' means.

Fairfax trained teachers to disregard objections to 'equity grading'

..... Teachers in Virginia's Fairfax County Public Schools were required to undergo professional development training on equity grading that includes a slideshow on responding to people who oppose equity initiatives....The syllabus for the professional development program Grading for Equity says it was designed to "support educators in understanding the 'why' and 'how' of implementing equitable grading practices" and required teachers to read the book Grading for Equity by Joe Feldman.

....Tenets of equity grading include the elimination of "0" grades through the implementation of a 50% minimum grade on all assignments, the removal of deadlines, and the opportunity to redo assignments....The course syllabus contains several links to resources, including...in those resources is a slideshow on "Navigating Resistance" to equity programs that included instructions on how to respond to people who are critical of equity initiatives in different scenarios....One of the slides describes a person who "struggle to differentiate between equity and equality" and how this person believes "fair is equal."...it may be especially challenging for them to believe in systemic racism: a common refrain from white people engaging in this type of resistance is, 'but I grew up poor,'" the slide reads. "A lack of experience with racial inequities makes them naive.....

Yay public schooling! This should work out great. Already useless high school diplomas become even more useless college degrees. More money for the colleges, everyone gets into one and no one fails. Whoo hoo! We can always import more Indians to do the hard stuff.

The racist left and their soft bigotry of low expectations on display in full force. What’s more racist teaching 2 + 2 = 4 or 2 + 2 = 5?

What Happens When Angry Asian American Parents Get Organized

Our anxiety over the upcoming midterm and presidential elections has turned every vote, however local and peculiar, into a referendum on the future of the nation.... what’s more interesting to me is what actually drives these predictions of doom for Democrats. Two assumptions seem to be lurking somewhere underneath the surface. The first: School closures irreparably harmed the Democratic Party. The second: There is a backlash against diversity and equity measures, many of which were established after the nationwide George Floyd protests.

So on Tuesday, when the deep blue city of San Francisco recalled three ultra-progressive, equity-focused members of the school board, ousting them in stunning three-to-one votes, what are we to make of it? Is it a harbinger of coming catastrophe for Democrats? Or are we dealing with a local election with local concerns?...Was the recall the result of parents who were frustrated by the extended closures of schools even when the city had low coronavirus positivity and death rates? At times, the board members had seemed more concerned with renaming schools, including one named after Abraham Lincoln, than with figuring out a plan to reopen....Should the blame be placed on the board’s decision to change the admission policy at the elite Lowell High School from merit-based to lottery?

...Or is Alison Collins, the most controversial of the three school board officials who were forced out, the reason for it all? The wife of a wealthy real estate developer, she was responsible for much-publicized and seemingly anti-Asian tweets, followed by an absurd $87 million lawsuit against the city, the school district and her fellow school board members....What’s far more likely — and supported by the voting data — is that the recall was mostly brought about by a coalition of parents who were mad about the changes at Lowell. On Feb. 2, 2021, members of the school board put forth a resolution to end test-based admissions at the school permanently and to use instead the district’s standard lottery system as a way to diversify the mostly white and Asian student body. On Feb. 9 the school board voted 5 to 2 to adopt the resolution. Ten days later, two parents began the campaign to recall the three school board members....

The vote capped a year of organizing by a mostly Asian American bloc of parents and citizens....But this sort of dismissal belies the actual organizing that went into the effort and the work of hundreds of volunteers who collected signatures for the recall election throughout the city. It also ignores relatively high turnout rates in Asian neighborhoods and the overwhelming majority of those residents who voted to recall.... and for months, nearly every time I went, I would see the same people — mostly elderly Chinese American men and women — standing out front with their fliers and petitions. Asian Americans who normally might not have been involved in the political process started standing in front of restaurants and on corners to collect signatures. This was true in Asian and even non-Asian neighborhoods throughout the city....

....If you want another example of what a group like this can do, consider the leaders of the Asian American organizations that allied with the conservative legal activist Edward Blum to sue Harvard over affirmative action. The case, now before the Supreme Court, will likely bring about an end to race-based college admissions throughout the country...

Why Asian Americans Are Leaving the Democratic Party | Opinion

The U.S. Supreme Court just agreed to take on two college affirmative action cases, and will consider whether the undergraduate admission processes at Harvard University and the University of North Carolina discriminated against Asian American students....No issue takes a higher priority in the Asian-American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community than education. Besides the cultural tradition of valuing education, most Asian-American parents believe that educational attainment is necessary to ensure their children have a successful life in the United States. Working-class Asian immigrant families especially regard education as a lifeline to lift their children from poverty and achieve their American dreams....

....But on this critical issue, Democrats have chosen to embrace critical race theory (CRT), a neo-Marxist ideology that attributes all disparities in any group outcome to systemic racism. Adherents of CRT claim that they must dismantle the "racist" meritocracy-based education system to achieve equity in education outcomes. In the last two years, Democrats have pushed for education "reforms" such as the elimination of the merit-based admissions to elite high schools, phasing out gifted and talented programs, dumbing down math education and dropping SAT and ACT scores from the college admission process. Most recently, the Biden administration called on the Supreme Court to deny challenge to Harvard's anti-Asian race-based admissions policy....

...Democrats have targeted the institutions where Asian students have thrived the most. Democrats argue that Asian students are "over-represented" in elite schools and should be excluded to make room for "oppressed people of color." San Francisco school board commissioner Alison Collins even accused Asian-Americans of using "white supremacist thinking to assimilate and 'get ahead.'" Proponents of critical race theory have even insisted that it is "disingenuous" to call Asian Americans "POC."...

....Many AAPI parents found these education "reforms" and the Democrats' justifications for them upsetting. Asian Americans have endured a long history of bigotry and racial discrimination in the United States, and have been part of the civil rights movement to help the United States become more just and fair for Americans of all races....The Democrats have not helped matters by openly endorsing a racial hierarchy system that values some races more than others, excluding our children from receiving a good education and punishing them for their hard work and success. This is not progress but the very definition of bigotry....Asian Americans have been on edge about security due to the rising number of violent crimes against Asians in some of America's most progressive cities, such as Oakland and New York City. After a white gunman shot and killed eight victims, including six Asian women, in March 2021 in Atlanta, Asian Americans had hoped that the trending hashtag #StopAAPIHate and the outpouring of national outrage would compel Democratic leaders to tackle violent crimes against Asian Americans. Instead, the security situation for Asian Americans in major cities has gotten worse. New York City alone has seen anti-Asian crimes increase more than 350 percent from 2020 to 2021....

In Democrat-led cities, we continue to see Asian seniors shoved to the ground and beaten, and Asian people and businesses robbed. Most recently, a young Asian woman's life was cut short after a disturbed ex-con shoved her in front of an oncoming subway train at Times Square Station in New York City. ...But it's this November's election that the Democratic Party should worry about most. This may be the year when it finally loses the support of the majority of AAPI voters..... Although they currently represent less than 6 percent of voters, Asian Americans are projected to become the largest immigrant group in the U.S., surpassing Hispanics in 2055. This population trend means AAPI voters will play a critical role in shaping America's future. No party should either overlook Asian American voters or take their votes and loyalty for granted.

Parents Running Against Race-Based Admissions Policies Sweep Local School Board Races

......Candidates backed by an organization focused on promoting merit-based admissions notched several victories in New York City’s recent school board elections, according to the New York Post.....Of 147 candidates endorsed by Parent Leaders for Accelerated Curriculum and Education (PLACE NYC), a group focused on improving academic rigor within K-12 schools, 115 won a seat on their local school district board for the 2023-2025 term, according to the New York Post.....The endorsed candidates now make up 40% of elected officials on Citywide & Community Education Councils, which is New York City’s version of school boards....

....“The results of this election is a clear mandate from New York City Public School parents for expanded accelerated education opportunities and merit-based admissions,” PLACE NYC said in a statement.....The victories come after New York City reversed admission policies.... give the top 15% of students with a grade point average (GPA) of 90 or above the first pick at selective high schools and middle schools. The previous admissions policy..... allowed underperforming students to receive admission to the screened schools.....

Math and reading scores for American 13-year-olds plunge to lowest levels in decades

.....Math and reading scores among America’s 13-year-olds fell to their lowest levels in decades, with math scores plunging by the largest margin ever recorded, according to the results of a federal test known as the nation’s report card....The results, released Wednesday, are the latest measure of the deep learning setbacks incurred during the pandemic. While earlier testing revealed the magnitude of America's learning loss, the latest test casts light on the persistence of those setbacks, dimming hopes of swift academic recovery....

....More than two years after most students returned to in-person class, there are still “worrisome signs about student achievement,”....In the national sample of 13-year-old students, average math scores fell by 9 points between 2020 and 2023. Reading scores fell by 4 points....Math and reading scores had been sliding before the pandemic, but the latest results show a precipitous drop that erases earlier gains in the years leading up to 2012. Scores on the math exam, which has been given since 1973, are now at their lowest levels since 1990. Reading scores are their lowest since 2004....

....Especially alarming to officials were outsize decreases among the lowest-performing students. Students at all achievement levels saw decreases, but while stronger students saw slides of 6 to 8 points, lower performing students saw decreases of 12 to 14 points, the results show....There were also differences by race. Students from almost every race and ethnicity saw math scores slide, but the steepest drops were among American Indian students, at 20 points, and Black students, at 13 points.....The scores reflect the disproportionate impact of the pandemic's disruptions on Black and Latino students and those from low-income families.....

....Education Secretary Miguel Cardona said the results confirm what the Biden administration knew all along: “that the pandemic would have a devastating impact on students’ learning across the country and that it would take years of effort and investment to reverse the damage...”....The test also revealed a troubling increase in student absenteeism. The share of students missing five or more days of schools in a month doubled since 2020, reaching 10% this year. Students with fewer missed days had higher average scores in both reading and math.....

Reading and Math Scores Plummet as Racial and Sexual Activism Replace Academics

As America’s public education system reports the worst literacy and math performance in decades, its schools dedicate increasingly immense portions of their time to lessons on the supposed virtues of racial and gender segregation.....one would think that everyone from the newest teacher’s aide to the tenured administrators would call “all hands on deck” to spend every moment trying to close the enormous performance gaps inflamed by COVID-19 lockdowns....

.....Teachers unions, school “equity officers,” and administrators began proclaiming that historic racial inequities were responsible for the massive gaps in black and Hispanic students’ reading scores. They claim “white supremacy” is responsible for students’ disengagement—that “students of color” would learn far more if they were “allowed” to read books by black authors under black teachers..... major metropolitan districts have doubled down on the need for a focus on racially-driven education—often implementing the tenets of critical race theory and citing its so-called scholars.

Indianapolis Public Schools and its over 30,000 students languish in illiteracy, but you won’t hear superintendent Aleesia Johnson apologize for a lack of results. Instead, she flocks to media outlets to praise the school’s third gallant push towards “racial equity” (because apparently, the first two didn’t succeed).

Instead of hosting emergency training sessions to bring Indianapolis teachers up to speed on proven reading instruction pedagogy, Indianapolis brought critical race theory scholar Gloria Ladson-Billings in for an emergency “all staff required” session on racial equity. One Indianapolis middle school required students to attend so-called racial equity sessions in which Black Lives Matter activists told them that crime was a “made up” term by “the white people.”

In undercover interviews with several Indiana schools, Accuracy in Media captured several administrators admitting to consistently wasting reading instruction time with racially segregationist activism—even if they had to hide it from parents.

In 2021, Chicago Public Schools boasted only a 17% literacy rate for Hispanic students and an 11% literacy rate for black students. Rather than assist black and Hispanic students in improving the single greatest factor in adult success, Chicago launched another racial equity initiative and hired additional “Office of Equity” staff.....

Hollywood and Glendale schools chose to implement curriculum on the history of “LGBTQ+ activists” in place of additional reading and math instruction. Hispanic and Armenian parents flocked to school board meetings to protest what many called “a waste of time.” ....“Why can’t you just focus on teaching our children to read?” a parent of elementary school children asked the Glendale Unified board.....

When a school wastes eight hours a day on political activism instead of academic instruction, literacy and math competency don’t improve. Political activism isn’t preparing students for the challenges of their future career and for adulthood, and public schools’ attempts to convince parents that it does are losing their luster....

'Very concerned': Failure rates up in Indianapolis schools, twice as high in some cases

At the end of the first semester, the number of Indianapolis Public Schools students receiving at least one D or F was up more than 50% from the same time the previous school year, before the pandemic closed classrooms and sent learning online.... At the end of the first semester, 18% of Black students had a failing grade, compared to 13% of white students and 14% of Hispanic students....IPS said it "is committed to creating the conditions for all of our students to be successful academically, especially our students of color."

University of Cincinnati student alleges professor failed her for using the term ‘biological women’

....A sophomore at the University of Cincinnati claims that her professor gave her a zero on a college project for using the term “biological women.”....Olivia Krolczyk, 20, said the professor for her Women’s Gender Studies in Pop Culture class failed her for using the “exclusionary” term despite admitting that she submitted a “solid proposal,” the student told The Post.....The course instructed students to pick a topic related to feminism, with Krolczyk choosing to research the changes female athletes have experienced throughout history and the rights and opportunities they have been awarded and fought for in athletics. Her project discussed things from the first woman to compete in the Olympic Games to the fight that female athletes like Riley Gaines are making for proposed changes to Title IX. The chemistry major said her project ended by sharing how “these rights and opportunities are being threatened by allowing men to compete in women’s sports......”

....The professor wrote in the comment for the failed mark that the term “biological women” was forbidden in the class. Krolczyk, who hasn’t identified the professor for fear she may be subjected to online harassment, first made the claim in a now-viral TikTok, which has been viewed more than 2.5 million times.....The clip shares an apparent photo of the zero grade and the professor’s comment, which reads, “Olivia, this is a solid proposal. However, the terms ‘biological women’ are exclusionary and are not allowed in this course as they further reinforce heteronormativity.”......“The final grade is based on the very few assignments we have, adding up to 200 total points. All grades relating to this specific project add up to 100 points, which is half of my grade,” Krolczyk told The Post.....“The directions for the assignment in which I received a zero on specifically state, ‘This exercise is developmental. Thoughtful proposals submitted on time will receive full credit.’ I turned in my assignment on time and I can guarantee 100% that my proposal was extremely thoughtful,” she insisted....Krolczyk also said she had contacted the university’s Gender Equality office, which told her it would have a different professor review and grade her work — but she has yet to see her grade change nearly two weeks later.....

White Penn State professor who resisted race-based grading files discrimination lawsuit

.....Pennsylvania State University employees racially discriminated against a white professor who resigned in opposition to race-based grading and diversity trainings that argued white people are racist, according to a recently filed lawsuit......Zack De Piero, who taught English at the school’s Abingdon campus, left in 2022 after working there for four years, according to the suit, which describes his departure as a “constructive termination,” arguing the school more or less forced him to resign.....

.....For example, the lawsuit cites a June 2020 Zoom conference during which then-Assistant Provost for Educational Equity Alina Wong allegedly “expressed her intention to cause Penn State’s white faculty to ‘feel the pain’ that George Floyd endured.”.....The provost allegedly “led the faculty in a breathing exercise in which she instructed the ‘White and non-Black people of color to hold it just a little longer — to feel the pain.’”......“Antiracist Writing Program meetings” included sessions called “White Teachers are a Problem,” “How to be an Antiracist,” and “The Myth of the Colorblind Classroom: White Instructors Confront White Privilege,” De Piero said....

.....The lawsuit points out that De Piero earned much of his experience as a teacher working in inner cities schools and with at-risk youths. He told Fox News he was insulted after his superiors judged him based on his skin color.....“I think there is almost sort of like a religious, cult-like environment where you have this original skin, in this case — I’m white, I need to repent for that sin,” he said. “…I think they were waging a psychological war campaign, and they are trying to break people — and they almost broke me — but they didn’t.”

.....A university official has also instructed the professor to “apply different grading standards based on race” as part of “an antiracist act,” the lawsuit alleged. De Piero’s supervisor, Liliana Naydan, also “discouraged grading students equally regardless of race as somehow an overt act of ‘racism.'”....Additionally, she had “instructed her writing faculty to teach that White supremacy exists in language itself, and therefore, that the English language itself is ‘racist’ and, furthermore, that White supremacy exists in the teaching of writing of English, and therefore writing teachers are themselves racist white supremacists,” according to the lawsuit....

'Algebra for none' fails in San Francisco

....Frustrated by high failure rates in eighth-grade algebra, San Francisco Unified decided in 2015 to delay algebra till ninth grade and place low, average and high achievers in the same classes. The goal was to improve achievement for black and Hispanic students, preparing more for advanced math.....A proposed new California math framework encourages other districts to copy San Francisco's math reforms, for which the district claimed success....Test data from 2015 to 2019 shows that racial "achievement gaps have widened," wrote Tom Loveless last year. The district "is headed in the wrong direction on equity." Black and Hispanic 11th-graders in San Francisco earned "appalling" scores on the state math test, "about the same as or lower than the typical fifth-grader" in the state.....

...."Algebra For None" made it harder for achievers to succeed without helping low achievers.....Families face a "nightmare of workarounds" to get their high-achieving children on track for advanced math..."Families with resources turn to fee-required online algebra 1 courses in eighth grade, outside the public school system, or enroll their kids in private schools," they write. Those who can't afford it must take a compression class that combines advanced algebra and pre-calculus or take a year of double math to get on track for AP Calculus.....The district "will take credit for my granddaughter’s mathematical success as proof their policies work," one of the authors writes. "In reality, this took two of her summers and nearly $2,000...."

Stanford University president to resign following research controversy

....The resignation comes after the board of trustees launched a review in December following allegations he engaged in fraud and other unethical conduct related to his research and papers....The review assessed 12 papers that Tessier-Lavigne worked on, and he is the principal author of five of them. He said he was aware of issues with four of the five papers but acknowledged taking "insufficient" steps to deal with the issues. He said he'll retract three of the papers and correct two.....In November, the college's student newspaper, The Stanford Daily, published an investigative story that revealed a prominent research journal was reviewing a paper that Tessier-Lavigne had co-authored, and said that Tessier-Lavigne had been made aware of errors in his papers as early as 2015....

.....The story also mentioned several other papers of Tessier-Lavigne's, including two that he co-authored, that an outside expert said contained "serious problems." At the time, the university downplayed Tessier-Lavigne's conduct and said that in two cases, he "was not involved in any way in the generation or presentation of the panels that have been queried." In the other two cases, the university said that the issues "do not affect the data, results or interpretation of the papers." ...The panel cleared him of the most serious allegation, that a 2009 paper published in the scientific journal Nature was the subject of a fraud investigation and that fraud was found. The paper proposed a model of neurodegeneration, which could have great potential for Alzheimer's disease research and therapy, the panel wrote in its report.....

.....Tessier-Lavigne says he's stepping down because he expects continued debate about his ability to lead the university. He will remain on faculty as a biology professor. He also said he will continue his research into brain development and neurodegeneration. He has been president for nearly seven years....

Review Investigation: Jo Boaler, Cathy Williams, and the Woke Math Scam

.....It’s been a busy few years for Jo Boaler, star professor at the Stanford Graduate School of Education. Last year, the California Mathematics Framework — of which she is a primary author — ignited outrage due to its low-standards and equity-obsessed approach to math education (including axing calculus and describing homework as “inequitable”).....In April, she got into a Twitter spat with a professor at U.C. Berkeley who had criticized her framework. She even threatened to call the police on him! That same month, the Stanford Review published a piece exposing how Boaler — “Professor Karen,” as we called her —  in addition to working full-time at Stanford and authoring California’s math framework, has been consulting with low-income schools… for $5,000 an hour.....

.....In early May, things got worse when Stanford math professor Brian Conrad — an actual mathematician, unlike Boaler — published a scathing and detailed report on the framework. In that report, Conrad says of the framework’s obsession with data science: “Whatever author is responsible for such a myopic view of mathematics should never again be involved in the setting of public policy guidance on math education.” ....By late 2021, with a popular backlash against the framework in full swing, Boaler’s tone in emails changed considerably. In one email to allies, Boaler lamented a negative story in the New York Post, calling it “more awfulness.” In an apparent shift away from defending the framework on its merits, Boaler decided it was time to call in the big guns.....

.....In December, she sought help from an influential philanthropist: Laurene Powell Jobs, the billionaire widow of Apple founder Steve Jobs. Jobs is the founder of Emerson Collective, a for-profit philanthropic organization, as well as a Stanford Trustee. In that email, Boaler complains to Jobs about Tucker Carlson and “misinformation” before asking her to intervene with Governor Newsom to save the framework, which was already crashing and burning. Here are some highlights of the desperate email.....“[the framework] has brought the attention of the extreme right – I was ridiculed on Tucker Carlson (Fox News) some months ago, which resulted in death threats, and the framework has now been featured in mainstream news - The New York Times, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal etc (see an example below) with a lot of misinformation…I would *really* appreciate your support, which could be in the form of a letter to the governor, or helping me get in touch with industry leaders who might be prepared to make a stand? To communicate with the governor, some communication with Stanford – anything… If this framework gets withdrawn in California, I don’t think any other state will try and make maths changes.....”

.....No, it’s only in these major consulting agreements, which netted her $45,000 in personal checks. We reached out to OSD to ask whether they knew Williams had lied to them about her job position. They referred us to a district statement on the contract controversy but declined to answer our question.....In total, Williams and Boaler brought in a combined haul of at least $95,000 (possibly as much as $110,000) from Oxnard Schools. Can you feel the equity?...After the Review’s report on Boaler’s absurd $5,000 hourly fee, she cooked up an excuse to defend the rate and shared it with the local paper in Oxnard. Boaler told the Ventura Star that her work with Oxnard included “many hundreds of hours” of prep and meetings with district personnel. It turns out that excuse may implicate her in another issue. If it’s true, she may have actually violated Stanford’s quarterly limits on paid consulting hours. Stanford limits paid consulting by professors to 130 hours per academic quarter......

....Youcubed is currently advertising a 2-day workshop at Stanford in March 2023, with a per-person price of $995. But for the money, participants will be treated well, including opening and closing remarks by Boaler herself....Order your ticket today! True to form, there are no refunds or cancellations, and no exceptions!

Let's Move Past The Acrimony And Create A Mathematics Framework That Works For All Students

By Jo Boaler April 9, 2023

....My name is Jo Boaler. I am a mathematics education professor at Stanford University. I was one of five authors of California’s proposed new mathematics framework. Unfortunately, the debate about the best way to teach math correctly has become very contentious, and I continue to be the target of misinformation and even personal attacks....One of the circulated myths about me concerns allowing students to accelerate through math classes by taking more advanced classes. In fact, I am not at all opposed to student advancement, as long as the system for allowing that advancement does not systematically push Black and brown students out of higher-level mathematics. Unfortunately, our current system operates in this way. The National Center for Education Statistics shares a graph showing the extreme racial differences in the students who take calculus in high school....

....A second myth is that I oppose the teaching of algebra, calculus or math facts, when, in fact, our youcubed website shares research-informed ways to teach all three of these topics....The first concerns the sequence of math courses students take through high school. In California and nationwide, this is based on a framework established 131 years ago by the National Education Association’s working group of upper-class, white, male educators, composed mostly of representatives from higher education....

3 arrested for beating death of Akron teenager outside I Promise School, US Marshals say

....The U.S. Marshals Service on Saturday announced three men have been arrested for the murder of Ethan Liming, who was beaten to death June 2 outside LeBron James’ I Promise School. The 17-year-old was found dead around 10:30 p.m. in the school parking lot on West Market Street after his friends called 911, according to Akron police.....Akron police initially said Liming was “knocked unconscious and brutally assaulted” by the suspects during a fight......Mylett said the altercation began after Liming and three others arrived to the parking lot and started firing a SplatRBall gun at people on the basketball court. It is not clear if Liming fired the SplatRBall gun....

“I am happy to report that today, officers with the Akron Police Department, made several arrests in connection with the death of Ethan Liming. We thank the members of the community for their outpouring of support that helped investigators throughout this investigation. We will continue to follow any leads that will result in bringing those responsible for Ethan’s death to justice. While I believe the news of the arrests will be welcomed by Ethan’s family and loved ones, we all recognize that nothing will bring Ethan back. Violence in this country must stop. We are losing too many lives to senseless acts of violence.” — Akron Police Chief Stephen Mylett

LeBron James’ I Promise School is apart of the Akron Public School District, serving students in third through seventh grades.

Surprising Demographic Is Rejecting Leftist Ideology, Twice as Likely to Be Conservative

....High school-aged young men are more likely to describe themselves as conservative than liberal by a ratio of almost two-to-one, a new report claimed. While this is all anecdotal, this information led me to recall an old adage: Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, and weak men create hard times....

....Kids today have been raised in hard times and with a lot of weak men as their examples..... the University of Michigan has dropped the annual Monitoring the Future survey. It gauges where the minds of America’s young people are and has done so since the 1970s.....The survey found that high school seniors over the last three years are largely apolitical, but when they were asked to choose a side of the aisle, a plurality of the boys said they sit on the right...Girls were more likely to pick a side, and 30 percent of them identified as liberal compared to only 12 percent who said they were conservative....

More Than 12,500 Grades Changed From Failing To Passing At Baltimore High Schools Over Several-Year Span, Audit Finds

....Multiple Baltimore high schools changed more than 12,500 failing grades to passing over a several-year span, according to the findings of an audit released Tuesday by the Maryland Office of the Inspector General for Education. The report was the product of a three-year review of grading procedures within Baltimore City Public Schools, which was launched in response to complaints about students being promoted despite poor academic performance and allegations that teachers were pressured to change grades. Its findings were based on a combination of documents, including emails exchanged by district and school staff, and interviews with educators and administrators, some of whom the auditors' say were reluctant to speak out of fear that it could cost them their jobs. "A culture of fear and a veil of secrecy affected the BCPS system and kept many from speaking freely about misconduct," the report states. "Regrettably, these actions delayed the completion of this investigation and hindered the truth-seeking process."

The audit, which covered the school years from 2016 through 2020, found that Patterson High School had the highest number of changed grades (1,390), followed by Mergenthaler Vocational Technical High School (780) and Digital Harbor High (592).  Baltimore City Public Schools CEO Dr. Sonja Santelises has already conducted an "extensive overhaul" of the school system's grading policy "to ensure that our grading is fair, equitable, and accurately reflects our students' achievements," according to the statement. The revisions were accepted by the board in 2019....

It would seem that simply passing these kids is the "kind" thing to do. Of course it is not. But this is liberal logic being applied.

These kids certainly have the ability to learn, and are likely smart as hell, but without effort it does not matter. Kids are simply being allowed to fail.....liberalism in motion
