this signing doesnt make the most sense.   if Hopkins wants money, the Pats wont pay.   they rarely pay top dollar for players on the free agent market.  and they let a lot of their own players walk when they hit free agency.

if he wants a championship, I'm not sure that the pats are there.    I suppose if someone steps up at QB that could change..... I guess hopkins could be a part of that.   but I wouldnt bet on it.

I see a lot of better options for Hopkins out there.....  but sometimes things dont have to make sense to me.  there could be a lot of other factors I am not considering.

I think at this point in his career he.really wants a chance at a ring. Sorry but the Patriots and the Titans aren't superbowl material this year. So.he choices could be very limited. First one comes to mind would be the Chiefs. Can they afford him.or are they even interested? Next, I'd say the Buffalo Bills who definitely lack a good WR2. Given the Diggs saga would signing Hopkkns piss off Diggs more? I bet Josh Allen would love him since the pass the majority of the time. Fon't think they got a shot at a superbowl this year but I'd like to see him go to the Indianapolis Colts. He'd certainly help Richardson's development because Michael Pittman just isn't a.WR1. Thus his choices to go to a superbowl contender is limited he may have to settle for whoever's gonna pay him the most. If he can't get a ring then get a bag, maybe a mini-bag.

Did Hopkins tell the Cardinals he wanted to move on to a different team?  Why was he released?  If it was mostly his choice, why did he not want to play for Arizona?

nobody knows for sure. 

I suspect it was mutual.

with Kyler Murray on the shelf with injury I think he would like to move on to a contender.    and the team likely feels no need to pay his high salary if they are not gonna win.

so I suspect they sat down in a room and negotiated something or the team just bought him out based on the rules.   nobody is privy to how it went down and there is likely a non disclosure agreement in place so we wont likely ever find out.

Is it really important to know what happen, either you draft him in ff has a low wr2, or you make the right decision and pass and try to draft him a couple of rounds later.  

Its not like an action league that has very little strategy.

of course its not important to know.   but people like to gossip and mind other peoples business.

at the end of the day the only thing you need to know is where the guy is gonna play and who is gonna throw him the ball and what kind of offense the team is running.

once you have that, you likely have all you need to make a reasonable guess as to how he will produce.

I'd like to see him with the Giants, just to answer the question of whether it was Golladay, or whether it was Jones.  If Hopkins faceplants in NY as hard as Golladay, it was probably Jones... but if Jones' consistently high ratings as a deep passer mean anything, there's some real season-winning potential there.
