Leftist elitists don't like local police.  Leftist elitists love to militarized federal agencies where agencies, even like NIH are. big purchasers of AR-15 style weapons.  The militarization of federal agencies is one of those issues that is not on anyone's radar but should be.  

Local authorities like the Sheriff are directly answerable to the people and can be given oversight both locally and at the fed level.  This is a nice check and balance keeping the local authorizes in check with all the rules and Constitution.  There are so many Sherriffs that it is difficult for the elites to keep them on puppet strings.

Federal agencies within the executive branch are so much better for the elites.  They can refuse to answer Congressional questions and can operate largely in a cloak of secrecy claiming security classifications or claiming they can't discuss pending investigations.  Even the smartest best-inform president is only one man, he can not possibly execute the job as president and offer any real oversight to the millions of employees in the numerous agencies of the executive branch.   Therefore we have a ton of executive branches with tons of descemretionary power and virtual zero checks and balances.   The elites love this.  They get guys in leadership in these agencies and they can pillage funding and abuse the rights of citizens by spying on them or strong-arm enforcement of the millions upon millions of federal regulations.  Our current government is largely rogue controlled by the establishment elites and operate like a cartel and not a Constitutional government.

Yep.  Antifa/BLM - aka The DNC's Brownshirts - are a precursor to this just like the original Brown Shirts were a precursor to the Nazis.
