I already told you.   Most don't go outside, for whatever their reasons are.   Those that do are probably are not sitting in one spot in a hot room.    Maybe my kids are abnormal - when it's hot and they are playing, there is usually water involved, they aren't dressed like they are at school, and they can take breaks and cool off if needed.  I guess yours play by sitting in a treehouse or something and sweating their asses off?   I don't understand why you are continually equating going outside when it's 90+ and sitting in a classroom with no A/C.  

Also, in those situations the parents are in control - the school isn't on the hook for their health and safety.    I understand a few days off for those schools we are talking about.

I'm just saying, I think a lot of kids would rather be in a warm sweaty room playing video games, or being outdoors running around in the heat, than being in a cool classroom learning geometry. I don't think some here believe that.

Did you start school in early August? From what I've read, some mid-western states do that. I think it's borderline criminal to start school that early. It's still summer, for God's sake. Labor Day is the proverbial "end of summer", and no one should have to go back to school before then. Growing up, we always started school the Wednesday after Labor Day, now they start the Wednesday before Labor Day, mainly because they plan for more snow days since they call off school when there's 2 inches of snow on the ground.

School starts before Labor Day here. My kids started on august 23rd this year. School is usually finished before June.

We never closed the schools over hot temps. Also, we called them “substitute teachers.”

School spending has gone up per capita (inflation adjusted) by a ton. 

Most of which has gone to admins, aids, and advocates.
