RLLD 4,230 Posted September 6, 2023 Any mechanic types out there. Have a 2004 Sierra Denali (1500) and would like to replace all of the lights with LED. I infer it will not be that simple, that there needs to be some change elsewhere as the resistance and ohms and what not will not be congruent. Any one know how to even start to approach this>

MTSkiBum 1,620 Posted September 6, 2023 There are companies that make kits, they come with LED controllers, although I did not spend any time whether the below brand is a good brand or how easy they are to install. https://www.xenonhids.com/gmc/2004/sierra-1500.html

It's as simple as changing all the light bulbs, just order for your make and model. Alternatively, you can wire in different fixtures that are a bit more modern too. We've done this on every vehicle we own, the oldest being a 1976 airstream. Running lights, break lights, interior lights, everything.

I have heard one might need resistors for the turn lights, what do you think?

nobody 2,667 Posted September 6, 2023 The concept is correct that LED lights require a different load than the typical headlamp, but they should just build that into the lamp. Otherwise, there is a product opportunity out there.

I am leaning toward using Lasfit at the moment, still looking at a few others. I really want to retain the stock look if at all possible, that is to say keep the existing like assembly overall, but upgrade the wiring/lights. Parts for this thing are difficult to come by.
