Javonte Williams

Taking into account his latest injury and the decent showing of the other two backs, do you still feel he can be a valuable asset this year or has he now become just another rb in a committee?

Do you have the space to keep him for a couple more weeks or is there someone out there you can't pass up on? It's almost impossible to know at this point but if it were me I would try to hold for a bit but if he is blocking a good pickup, then you gotta do what you gotta do. I'm pretty sure it will be RBBC given the last game. That said I have Breece Hall as a 4 year keeper when he got hurt last year, and even after they added Cook, I kept Hall and am happy I did. But that's a salary cap league.

I don’t currently roster him- short benches ppr league and he got dropped in the last round of waivers. Would need to drop roschon Johnson if I wanted to grab him, and may possibly need to use my high waiver priority to do it.

Short benches? No way am I dropping Johnson for him. But that's just me.

It will be interesting to see other takes on your situation. But I think that dude McLaughlin made a strong case for at least as many touches just to see if it was a soft Bears def. or if he can hang in against tougher teams.

I'd hang on to him because he's the most talented back on that team, but I wouldn't consider him a must-start.  I'd only play him if I had to until he shows 1) he can produce and 2) stay healthy.

I wouldn’t expect much this yr, keeper league I’m keeping, redraft when it now, I’m not expecting much, short bench I would cut him if there is an upgrade.  I never targeted him this season in my two 14 team redrafts.

Denver homer here.

Javonte is and will be the top RB. Jaleel is a smaller back that cannot handle the work load. Payton wants to run the ball more going forward.

Now after last week's performance against the Bears....at the very least Jaleel has pushed his way up to RB2 on the depth chart, passing Perine.

Jaleel is going to be a great change of pace back or 3rd down back. He just isn't big enough to be the main man.

He doesn't have him rostered. He would have to drop someone to pick him up.

Oh, ok.  I only read his initial post.

I wouldn't drop a guy that I expect to start... to pick up Williams, but I would drop a bench guy that I don't expect to start unless it's for an injury replacement or bye week.  I'd drop Roschon Johnson to pick up Williams.  Johnson's only getting 5 to 8 touches a game on a team that doesn't move the ball much or have many offensive plays.  Unless you think think the Bears are going to be more like Baltimore and run the ball 35+ times per game between their RB's and QB, then keep Johnson.

well, Javonte so far is doing about what I thought he would do.

I figured early in the season he may be on a pitch count.   hes certainly not getting a lot of carries but part of this may be due to gamescript.  I have not watched enough to say for sure that its one or the other.    The team has been bad overall.   Worse than I thought they would be to be bluntly honest.    Garbage time is basically a steaming hole where the run game used to be because in many games, the team has been down a lot of points far too early in the game.

this takes away from his value in a huge way.    if you are playing in dynasty and on a losing team, now would be the time to buy him if you can get him on the cheap.    Next year I'd expect better things from Javonte.

but in Redraft, hes probably an RB3 for much of this year.   depending on how his recovery goes, in the second half of the season he may or may not be an RB2.... but if the team as a whole continues to play badly that may be wishful thinking.

He's questionable with a quad injury this week. Not a good sign for a guy coming off an ACL injury.

I don't think he's any more than another guy in a RBBC on a bad team, coming off a serious injury.

Doesn't sound very appealing.

Anything you get out of him this season is gravy.

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't do anything until he's out of Denver

no it isnt.   that is the thing with ACL injuries...... the player is far more susceptable to Quads and soft tissue injuries in the year after the surgery.   not sure why that is, but it seems to happen a lot.  likely muscles compensating for an ACL that isnt functioning optimally.

cant say for sure.  I am not a doctor.   but that does seem to be the case more often than not and is the reason I avoid these players unless I can get them at the price of an RB3 or cheaper.    At least at that price the risk isnt huge.   replacing players at the bottom of the lineup is far easier than replacing them at the top of your lineup.

either way, hes a guy you treat as an RB3 until he shows he can be an RB2 and I'm sure late in the season (assuming good health) he will have some decent games.   but the Burst and cutting ability everyone loves wont return until next year.

But 2 rushes against the Bears? That's telling us something. That's not even a pitch count. 3 catches for 9 yards?

I have no idea what that tells us. I'm not dropping Johnson for the guy even if Herbert has been looking pretty good.

fair enough.    and I cannot disagree.    maybe the knee is still giving him issues.   as you Polecat said..... hes having Quad issues and he is not wrong  in saying thats a bad sign for someone coming off of an ACL issue.

either way, not a guy you break the bank for in redraft.   but if you have a non competitive team in a dynasty league, you do pick this guy up if he is on the waiver wire or if you can acquire him for cheap.   Better days are ahead.   you just may not see them until next season.

And dynasty squads are huge. The last guys on your team are always dropable. I have guys on my dynasty team that would never be touched in a redraft. All the teams do. No chance Williams isn't rostered on a dynasty. Injured or not.

fair enough.   that said I've seen people do some real stupid stuff in a fit of rage after losing a game in some leagues.

odds are low that you find him on the wire, but not zero.

that said, maybe you send a nice low offer or a draft pick or something.  if you dont ask, you will never acquire.

Perfect definition of buy low.
