Random Thoughts Week 15

Recommended Posts

Broncos Lions surprised me. Thought the game would be close. Speaking of the Lions, anyone who started Goff this week has to be whistling Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah out of their behind.

DeMeco Ryans finally pulled his head out of his arse long enough to look at the statistics & realize that Singletary is the man.
Only took him 15 weeks.

Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.  Taysom Hill was dropped when he missed week 14.
Because of injuries, I needed someone for a PPR flex.  Tried to get him Friday but someone had beat me to the punch.
Picked up Antonio Gibson instead. Remains to be seen if that works out, but missing out on Hill hasn't hurt…..yet.

Started Love over Mahomes in a ‘for fun only’ family league. Haven't embarrassed myself yet.

Rachaad White continues to impress.  What a value pick he was. Of course Mostert has turned out to be the ultimate value pick. 2 more TD’s on the ground today. Chuba Hubbard is also paying dividends.

Green Bay - Tampa Bay looks to be the only possible shoot-out of the early games.

The Bears backfield has been a total quagmire since Fields came back.

TBC

McLaurin is the most invisible "alpha" receiver in the league.

Who.

The fact that Howell can't get the ball to Commanders best receiver suggests that Howell is not the answer (or has a lot to learn).  Brissett comes in and immediately finds McLaurin for a TD and more yards than he has had in the last two games.

It worked!

Indeed.

The Commanders remain a boondoggle. Wasting their best players, making the wrong decisions.

Can we now say Rice has overtaken Kelce as the top receiving option in KC?

Kelce having a very average day hurt me in 2 playoffs.

Rice sure has been a blessing.

In one of my dynasty leagues I traded him & Kincaid for Aiyuk about 2 weeks ago.  Looking like if I had kept Rice, I would have won this weekend (even with a goose egg from Kincaid).  That one stings.

It sure looks like it.  I'd guess Kelce will still have a role the rest of this season and into the playoffs, but next season and beyond Rice is poised for a dominant sure-fire WR1 role.  Age and celebrity catching up with Kelce?  Tough to say how fast the decline will come - I wouldn't be surprised if next season is very mediocre with a couple of 2-3 TD weeks mixed in.

He’s still probably be a top 3-4 TE going into next year, but definitely not top 10 overall in redraft like he was this year.  No more WR1-type production it would appear.

I’d guess his ADP would be closer to the high 30’s, low 40’s overall.  Still a weapon but behind guys like Hockenson & LaPorta.

it was only a matter of time.

at his age, he and Tony Gonzalez are the only TE's who have finished as a TE1 at this age.    Likely because they do less blocking than your regular tight end so less wear and tear on the body.

Now that we are seeing a decline in his production I think the slope will likely get more slippery.  It is dicey in terms of whether  hes still a keeper.

Yeah, it’s going to be a tough call in one of my keeper leagues where we keep 5.

My definite keepers going into next year will be J. Allen, J. Jefferson, Aiyuk & R. White.  The decision I’ll have is whether to ride with Kelce one more year over guys like Cooper or J. Reed.

well, some guys will still be keen on Kelce.

maybe your ideal situation is to find a trade partner.   if they want to take that risk you can maybe get a new, keepable player in lieu.

That’s kind of what I was thinking.  Try and package him with one of the other guys I’m debating about and see if I can get another fringe RB1 or WR1.

yep.   2 for 1 deals are sometimes hard to get done but it is certainly worth it to explore the option
