My battalion was one of the first to get the SAW. Sucked. Hard to carry on a hump, Pain in the ass to clean too. The magazine port jammed all the time. I heard they improved it in later years.

Yeah, they did, but you still chewed up the side of your hand constantly pulling the charging handle back with the ejection port cover poking out and being so close.

I carried that in my fireteam and while the one I had at least worked, the side of my right hand paid the price.
