Convicted of a felony, but sentencing isn't for months? Our justice system is retarded

So you're convicted of a felony, which potentially puts you in prison. (Drumpf, Hunter)

That conviction was so important, and you are such a menace to society you could go to prison.

However, you're safe to roam the streets and do whatever you want until sentenced

America is focking stoopid. Justice is irrelevant. Dog and pony show.

Hey.....be grateful that these legal eagles actually prosecuted someone....even if only for political purposes....by god, they actually tried to hold someone accountable....

These were non-violent felonies. I think we are safe on the streets from these two until they are sentenced.

If we are safe, why would they go to prison at all?  What is the point? Why go to trial? Why is prison even in the conversation?

You think Hunter is going to run out and get a gun before he is sentenced? Will Trump pay off another porn star and falsify business records to cover it up until he next sees Merchan? I doubt either of these are likely.

This isn't about Hunter and Trump. This is about the idiotic justice system. How can you have a trial to convict someone a "felon", yet then let them roam the streets freely until maybe going to prison? If they are going to prison, why wait 4 months? Makes no sense.

Blame conservatives. I’m deadly serious.

There are two main reasons for the long delays in our judicial system. The first is there are too many crimes out there. Liberals push for reform, and conservatives block them at every turn. Conservatives yell and scream about “Soros backed DAs who are soft on crime” and yet these are the people trying to reform the system. Conservatives prevent them from doing it.

The second reason is mandatory minimum sentencing. This prevents plea bargain deals, which forces way too many court trials because defendants have nothing to lose. Liberals want to do away with this idiocy but once again conservatives block it every time.

So if you don’t like the delays you know whom to blame.

I was unaware there were no plea bargain deals. Is this only in NY or all of America?

I didn’t say no plea bargain deals. But mandatory minimums prevent all too many of them.

Got it. That makes a little more sense.

Well if they were a danger, like convicted of a dangerous felony, they could be jailed until sentencing. But since they’re not, and it’s possible they won’t be imprisoned at all…

As for the time, they have to do presentence investigations and reports. Plus the lawyers have time for sentencing memoranda and people can submit letters to the judge, etc.

Basically you’re an idiot :(

So a felony isn't a felony? or is a felony a misdemeanor but a felony?   okay lawyer boy.

How old are you?  These are childish questions.  Maybe learn something about our judicial system.
