Justin Herbert and DeAndre Hopkins both injured

Recommended Posts

Justin Herbert will be in a walking boot for the next two weeks with plantar fascia in his right foot. While he's expected to be okay for opening day, this is a common nagging injury, it's not a guarantee.

DeAndre Hopkins is out 4-6 weeks with a knee injury. The Titans are hoping for the shorter window of 4 weeks, which would put him back on the field just before the season opener. That too, not a given.

training camp is good because football is back, but injuries in camp = not good.

LB Nick Bolton for the Chiefs hurt his elbow this week, but they don't expect it to keep him out too long.

Ridley stock will probably go up some.

yeah early prognosis is that Hopkins might be back for week 1 but may also miss a game or  two to start the year.   not huge but enough to drop him a couple spots in your rankings

Thank God he'll be ok 🙏

In a league where we keep 11, and before this news Hopkins was my 11th keeper.  Probably still will since my other options are Shakir or D. Douglas, but great way to start the preseason.

I really do like Shakirs possible upside.   so if the news sours on hopkins I dont mind him as a backup plan.  I also dont mind Douglas, but hes likely a year behind Shakir in terms of his upward progression.    and you can probably get him back reasonably cheap if you dont keep him and you want him back

I wouldn’t have a problem keeping Shakir.

I agree.  but if hes dirt cheap to get back in an auction, then there is really no reason to keep him.   I'd say cost to buy hopkins at auction would be greater than the cost to buy Shakir.    Thats the only reason not to keep Shakir.    In the end I value both players pretty close to the same.  in keeper/dynasty Shakir has more future value as Hopkins is now on the wrong side of 30 years of age.    but Hopkins has more present value (if healthy)   but we are dangerously close to that point where it flips and shakir has more value.

in the end, if you think you can win this year, you keep  Hopkins, if not, Shakir is the better bet as he has a brighter future.

Mmm I’m not sold you keep Hopkins if you think you can win this season,  I think the upside is with Shakir.

Yeah, our draft isn’t for 3 weeks so I’ll probably see how the preseason goes, and whether Hopkins is trending towards playing in week 1.  We don’t have to lock in our keepers until the night before the draft.

My other keepers are Murray (QB). Taylor, K.Williams, Stevenson (RB). Aiyuk, London,  Dell, McLaurin (WR). Kelce, Engram (TE).

Hopkins isn’t going to make or break me and I have the #7 & #9 picks of the 1st round.
