The need to come first as the Dire wolf went extinct due to lack of megafauna such as  Woolly Rhinoceroses, Mammoths, Cave Lions and Cave Bears. In North American, megafauna included Giant Ground Sloths and Sabre-toothed Tigers, and African megafauna included elephants, giraffes, rhinoceroses and hippopotamuses.

I have read that the reason the American antelope evolved to run as fast as it does was because of the speed of Dire Wolves.  I have no idea whether that is true or not but i found the theory interesting.

Let's get down to brass tacks. Who do I have to pay or perform favors for (on?) to get one of these things as a pet? I have a lot of rabbits my dog is getting too old to kill. I also have a few neighbors I'd like to put the fear of god into... Hell I might take up hunting. Wouldn't even need a rifle, just turn my beast loose.
