Pick 1 or pick 8?

Recommended Posts

12 man ppr with 2 flex spots. Currently hold the first pick but the 8th pick has offered to trade. After a few mocks, 8 seems to give me a more balanced team- the drop off in rb is quite large. Would you make the deal and move back to 8?

I wouldn't do it.

I would prefer to have the higher pick round 1 than the higher pick in round 2

What is the trade? What are you getting back?

Just a straight swap of the two draft positions in general. It’s crazy that there is basically no rbs on the board in rounds like 4-6 from what I recall in mocks when I’m picking from 1. From 8, I can go rb wr or rb rb then hit the deep wrs.

Obviously every draft is different but if you took Bijan #1, at the 2/3 turn, ADP puts these guys potentially there when you pick...

23 Bucky Irving
24 Kyren Williams
25 Ladd McConkey
26 Chase Brown
28 Tee Higgins

I'm not sure I'd be upset with one of those 3 RB's and McConkey or Higgins.

These are potential targets at the 4/5 turn....

45 Chuba Hubbard
46 DJ Moore
47 James Conner
48 DK Metcalf
50 Courtland Sutton
52 TreVeyon Henderson

That looks pretty good too.

Robinson
Williams
McConkey
Moore
Sutton
... I'm pretty happy with that.

Higgins
Hubbard/James Conner
Henderson/Sutton
... I'm pretty happy with that too.

Where's the dislike there?

Thanks for the information it helps a ton. I just know if I’m at 1 in full ppr I’m going chase. After that,  during mocks the best available rb is often chase brown or Alvin kamara. Stacking the bengals isn’t ideal for me, kamara has miles on him, and even Kyren Williams doesn’t falll here. I find myself hoping for Ladd, and if he’s not there I go one of those rbs and bowers. Then later on, it’s nearly all WRs based on adp. Just tough to be thin at rb. Yes u cannot predict how it will fall but I like chase over bijan in our format, then my rbs are quite weak.

That's fair.  I think mocks are tough to go by because they are more likely to be deceptive.  In mocks, you have some people draft 2 players and bail, some not show up after signing up just to see the results, and others taking odd picks to see what the chain reaction is.

Rb's I'll be looking for after rd 4:

Hampton, Walker, Hubbard, Henderson, Harvey, Pollard, Johnson, Tracy, Williams, Mason, Bigsby

And I skipped a bunch I'm not overly interested in, but "no rbs rds 4-6" .?.  I disagree. With Wr's getting drafted higher than ever nowadays, it's pushed lots of reliable Rbs down the board.

You want #8 and #17.   Enough said.  Trade.

There’s your answer, unfortunately.  I personally would take Bijan at 1, not Chase.  Catches are far easier to come by than workhorse RBs.  I’d keep the 1, take Bijan and then let the WRs come to me at the 24/25 turn picks.  The odds of Chase coming close to last years numbers are very slim.  Chasing last years numbers isn’t a good strategy.  Chase this years numbers.  Bijan got better as Atl got better last year with their young QB.  He’s the one that will be the can’t miss 1 pick in 2026.  Take him now.
