Some of these I had no idea. Pitcher with a no hitter and 2 HRs in a game.   7 hits in a 9 inning game

Thanks for the vid.  The guy giving up the HR to Wise in the opening clip was from my hometown/HS.  Rare to find video of him playing from those days.

It's amazing how long he held the Reds saves record, I remember the night John Franco passed him.  He actually was NL Fireman of the Year at least once.  He's on a 73 Topps card with Sparky Lyle.  I met Pete Rose about 10 years ago in Vegas.  Told him I was from the same town and Rose called my hometown by name all those years later.

He spoke at one of my business dinners in Las Vegas, smaller group probably less than 50.  So before the event he was just sitting around chatting with people.  Openly bitter about MLB and the not wanting him at the All Star Game etc.  But entertaining as hell.

What's funny is that with this new rule for extra innings, a pitcher can throw a perfect game now, and lose.  Imagine facing 27 batters and getting them all out, then in the 10th with the automatic runner at second, you get the first guy to ground out... running moving to 3rd.  The next guy flies out, runner tags and scores, then the third batter strikes out.  Your team goes 1-2-3, you throw a perfect game... and get the "L".

I don't think that's happening as much as people think.  The "Innings Pitched" thing is a bit over blown.  Only 7 pitchers have thrown more innings than him this year and he's 9th in pitches thrown.  Of those pitchers, all of them are at least 26, and been pitching in the majors for at least 4 more years.  No one who has thrown more pitches or innings this year than Skenes, has reached 181+ IP in their 2nd season like Skenes has.

I stand corrected, I looked at his game log for the year and could have thought there were many others...  But you are correct and I apologize for the misinformation....
