NJ Governor Race

Corruption affects politicians in both parties,  but its natural home is obviously the Democratic Party, with this particular candidate seemingly far more compromised than most.

In this case, she also contrasts well with her opponent for governor who claims that he loses money by engaging in politics but does so anyways because he says that he wants to help his sh*ttastic blue state ro stop sucking.

Also, who can be upset about her level of corruption when you just had Bob Menendez as your senator?  She's without sin compared to that guy.

Now she's DEI, of course.

What a sad sack you are.

Don't worry, you're ok. NJ will NEVER elect a Republican Governor. Lucky for you, NJ has spun into a deep Democrat cesspool that is beyond repair.

You support a POTUS who is making bank running multiple bitcoin grifts and managing properties all over the world, often on the taxpayer dime.

Hypocrisy is the brand. :(

If Trump and the Republicans are so horrible then why is this even a consideration? Shouldn't the Dems win NJ in a landslide?

A lot of people don’t just vote by D or R, they look at the actual candidates

DeBlasio got 34 pct of the vote in the primary. That was enough to become mayor.  Liberals are so fockin stupid.

“Under Democrat rule in Trenton, New Jersey families have been getting screwed on energy prices, property taxes and public safety. Mikie Sherrill represents the status quo and would rather cast blame than present any plan to move New Jersey forward,” Kollin Crompton, Republican Governors Association rapid response director, said in a statement to The Hill.

Dead heat. Wow. Also, the Democrat nominee was implicated in a cheating scandal while at the naval academy, and she also refuses to release her disciplinary record .  And makes Kamala look like Shakespeare with her word salad. Democrats better get in there and do something. They lose NJ? Oooof.

She’s definitely a bad choice. I have no problem voting dem (since I’m independent leaning conservative) but anyone who votes for her is someone who just checks blue blindly.

Although I will also say anyone claiming she is worse when speaking than Kamala is just looking to trash any female candidate.
She is no where near as bad as Kamala (which is very hard)

So one of the major issues in this race is the skyrocketing cost of energy over the last few years in the garden state. This dopey broads solution is more solar.  You gotta be kidding me.

misogyny aside, we should be going after anything and everything to produce more electricity.  Trump cancelled our wind farm without any alternatives.

Wind and solar aren’t the solution. You haven’t realized that by now? Germany has. Why is it so hard to get it through liberals thick skull that the northeast isn’t the best environment for solar and wind? Sure you can have some, but it’s not enough.

If I bit the bullet and got solar years ago I would have no electric bill now.  Many of my neighbors did.  Now they look like geniuses and I look like an .  Don't tell me it's not the answer.

the best part is how they think wind turbines are an overall net positive for the environment 😆

What about the environmental footprint of solar? the manufacturing process of solar panels (couple with energy storage solutions), maintenance and end of life disposal concerns?

You could have bit the bullet and paid a bunch for solar a decade ago and probably been breaking even right about now and seeing the financial benefits moving forward... but I assume you're also concerned about the environmental impact.

Solar is better for the environment than coal, but primary concern would be $$$.

I wouldn’t buy a house with solar unless it was put in in the last couple of years. Also, you often have to get a new roof to have it installed.

Got a new roof 3 years ago and thought about doing the panels, priced it out, but punted.  Wish I did, would have been back of the house and I would have made money every month with the exposure and number of panels.

natural gas is a larger source (than coal) of electricity generation in the US

not saying we shouldn't want cleaner energy but I think a lot of uneducated people just assume solar and wind energy production are clean because they think "oh its the sun and wind giving me muh lights!". they don't stop and factor in all that goes into the creation and upkeep of the wind turbines or like I already stated regarding solar panels.   Hooray cadmium!

I am not totally against it but I am surprised you didn't apply your minor in finance then and have it done. If you would have made money every month, that means you were getting the panels for free. Sounds like a steal

I hear the other side too, like people attacking clean energy because the people they listen to and repeat get money from big oil to say those things.

You don't understand how solar works.  You need to put the money out for the panels and installation, then you generate electricity and anything you generate over your usage gets sold back to the grid so you can make money every month.  Plus there are clean energy credits you can sell on the market.

So initial layout of whatever it was, ~26k, the ROI is 8-10 years.  This was also at a time where solar installations were hurting and they were making deals.  Now the federal credits are all gone and electricity costs 30% more.  Not sure what the cost or ROI is anymore.

I am very clear on how solar works.  You are claiming you would have made money every month after installing it. That is not possible when you factor in the initial cost.

even with buybacks and clean credits you are not making money at the start

NJ hasn't re-elected a "party" since the 60's (the 1962 election).  A person got re-elected, but not a party.  Neither the Democrat or Republican party had more than 8 consecutive years as governor since 1970.  Before Christie, was Christie Whitman.  Before her, was Tom Kean before him, was William Cahill.

Energy created - energy consumed = net energy.

I'm saying that would have been positive every month resulting in an electric bill credit every month.

Fair. It sounded like you were claiming you would have been making money which just is not true until initial cost of installation has been recovered which has been proven to take upwards of a decade.
