Was the expectation that these people would be on government assistance for the rest of their lives?  We created a whole new generation of welfare recipients that were fine before the housing crisis, but now apparently are going to forever be poverty stricken and starve without food stamps?  

If you don't force these people off the program, they'll never get off the program.

I just don't get it.  Programs like SNAP should be a safety net with an expiration date  it should not be a 15 year plan.  

The unwritten social contract is that if you need help, you will get help, but it's not forever.  Lefties either have forgotten that or never understood it. You have to get back to contributing so you can, in turn, help others.  The problem is people get on these programs and never come off.  That's a broken system.  Do away with the whole thing.  If you can't contribute to society as an abled bodied member of the community, logic dictates you should be culled from the herd anyway, but that won't happen.  People would just get jobs.

Being a foster parent allows us, Me and my wife, to work closely with CPS, one of the support groups we have been in involved in is helping bio parents get work, and keep work, many of these people are able body people, but , with the cost of living to high, is very hard for most to simply get by, feeding people shouldn’t be a crime, it should be a community commitment. I have no problem with my dollars supported people with food.  

I hope that the current snap program not only goes on, but grows.
